This car is one of only 877 YTs made, very few of which were left hand drive. The car underwent a full nut and bolt, body off frame, restoration about 10 years ago, and has been driven less than 1000 miles since. The restoration was done by Hyannis Restoration a world renown shop known for its many Pebble Beach entry’s’. The car was restored with an eye towards originality, SAFETY and drivability. The original wood floor has been replaced with sheet steel welded to the chassis, the seats are now solidly mounted to steel rails welded to the floor, the car uses modern seatbelts. The beautifully covered leather seats have removable headrests engineered into them for additional safety. The steel floor ads rigidity to the chassis, this makes the car much stiffer. She now drives beautifully, and tracks straight and true. The same could not be said for these cars as they came from the factory. In addition, this car has a modern fuel cell, featuring an outside filler cap, and a dual circuit braking system. These well-integrated modifications greatly enhance the safety of the car while maintaining the vintage look and feel. The original 1250cc engine was removed and fully overhauled. A modern Pertronix electronic ignition was installed, and now she starts instantly with the first pull of the starter knob. A collapsible steering column from a later model MG was installed, further enhancing the safety of this car. All of these modifications were cleverly hidden, to maintain the visual integrity of the car, while greatly increasing the safety and practicality. The car was painted in a stunning black, all of the panels are laser straight, and the panel lines are excellent, far better than original factory spec. The interior was completely restored using the finest Tan Connelly leather, and Black carpets. The wooden dashboard was restored and is stunning. Vintage style Smith gauges were installed, and all of the systems work, as they should. All of the chrome is new, and the wheels were restored to as new condition. The car runs on period style Michelin radials. The convertible canvas top is NEW, as are the SIDE CURTAINS and the top mechanism has been restored to as-new condition. This is a one-of-a-kind, blue chip, collector car. There are no other comparable MG YTs in existence. This is a concours quality show car, upgraded to give the maximum amount of safety and utility, while still maintaining its vintage originality, feel and quality.
