Hello and welcome to my auction. If you have been following my auctions in the past I have been very busy and have not had time to list any beetle convertibles for sale. I have a very nice 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible .This beetle was actually sold about a month ago and was offered with new interior and new convertible top in the owners choice .One of the nicest guys I've ever met and his son bought the car and wanted a black top with black interior with white smooth vinyl headliner. I spent about 3 weeks working on the car and had it looking and running very good with a rebuilt motor,new clutch ,brakes ,steering and so on. I also have around $1,000.00 in just new carburator ,distrubator ,spark plugs,spark plug wires,coil ,fuel pump ,brake hubs and other parts that I receintly replaced. Ok, Why is it for sale again? First before I answer that I run a full service nut and bolt restoration shop .There is no job to small or to big and I specialize in only beetle and super beetle convertibles,no buses ,no squarebacks and I have only owned 2 beetle sedans and never a rag top so my speciality is in beetle convertibles and I go all over California finding excellent cars and walk away from many that don't meet my high standards. I put it this way , if I would not trust my wife or my young daughter in the car I would not sell it to you. I have video of my shop in Paso Robles,Ca and all work is done by us other then the engine being rebuilt . I do hire that done . Back to the car and why it's for sale again. The guy from Northern California was needing the car for a commuter car with the intentions of giving the car to his son when he turned 16 and when they came down on the train . I picked them up and went to my shop .After test driving the car and looking it over ,him and his son thanked me and went on their way .Unfortunetly this is where things went wrong. The back hub was oblonged and during normal test driving everything went as it should but when he hit highway speeds and hit a hill ,the poor little engine just got over worked from having to pull against itself and it caused damage to the engine. I could of told him sorry about your luck and went home and went to dinner but I do not run my business that way. I first tried to find out what was wrong and then seeing that he was tired and disappointed we both agreed not to hold the other one liable and I towed the little beetle back to my shop . We were stumped at first on what went wrong until we tried to push the car into the shop about a week later and then just like that the tire locked up and it wouldn't move. So we took the hub off and seen that it was oblonged and was catching on the brake drum . So there is no more outcomes like this I went ahead and replaced all 4 drums and had the motor checked and instead of guessing I had it completely rebuilt with new rebuilt heads that are crack checked and perfect. This engine has hand full of miles on it .It had only had oil put in it yesterday and fired up for the first time and it is so strong and runs excellent.The pictures may show white interior but it has been switched to black . I will be adding more pictures in the next few days . I have 2 full restoration cars nut and bolt that I am trying to arrange shipping for so I have been a little busy but they will be gone by hopefully Sunday and I can devote much more time to this. I do not like putting values on my cars but if someone brought this car to me and just wanted the work done to the car that it already has I would charge them at least $8,000.00 not including the car but again if that is someone brought the car to me with my shop rates.If you do prefer white interior I do have a set of white I could easily install but in 1971 and 1972 it did not come in bright white only off white. I am very easy to deal with and when in doubt please email. My excellent feedback is for a reason. I do as I say .My only request is to be paid promptly and if any extra work is wanted be patient as it will be worth a day or two to have it done the way you want it.This car is exceptionally clean painted inside and out ,under the hood and under the trunk lid,dash has been removed and painted back behind the dash so no unsightly overspray marks.You are not buying a show car but a very nice car . New Parts 1600 CC engine including heads Clutch Gravel Guards Running Boards Seat Covers and door panels as well sun visors Windshield And most of all Brand New Convertible Top,padding and headliner and all rubbers at a cost of $2,000.00 value alone We have put an extremely fair reserve that does not reflect what we feel the car is worth but it is a starting point to get some bids going and we do wish everyone happy bidding. Terms: No Deposit but a phone call at the end of auction at 805-975-4895 is your deposit and if your not going to be around at the end of auction and in the lead please contact me .If I don't hear from the lead bidder an hour after auctions end I reserve the right to relist the beetle or offer a second chance offer. Full payment in 3 days of auctions end by Bank wire transfer, bank certified funds or cash in person. The car is located in Paso Robles, Ca off the Central Coast of California in the beautiful wine country and voted number 3 best places to live. Your more then welcome to come look at the car or have an independant inspector come in your place prior to bidding or the end of auction. Everything works as it should on this car but Volkswagen recommends that for the first 500 miles you don't drive the car over 55 mph for extended periods of time for a break in period for many years of enjoyment. In the State of California you will never have to worry about Smog as this car is Smog exempt . Drop the top in this beetle and enjoy the fresh air blowing in your hair ,top down with all the thumbs ups from passers by..I'm selling Fun....On Sep-11-11 at 01:08:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to apologize for not getting pictures of the top and interior better and quicker. I had to go to Los Angeles and just got back tonight, I have added some pictures and if the winning bidder doesnt like the car after seeing the picturs of the top or engine you dont have to buy.
