Vehicle Detail
Hello, I am selling my somewhat rare 1988 E32 BMW 735i. This car has a build date of 7/87 and came equipped from the factory with the Getrag 5-speed manual transmission. The car is in pretty decent condition and I will try to mention everything that it will need to be perfect. As is, the car runs and drives great! I purchased this car in December 2009 and have driven it about 8500 miles, including (2) separate 2000-mile road trips, one to northern New Hampshire and one to Ohio/Kentucky/West Virginia. The car may have slightly higher miles than shown on the photo of the odometer. I replaced all the interior wood with wood from a 1994 740iL which I thought was nicer. I also got a wood shift surround panel from an e34 that looks much nicer than the original panel. I have the original panel and all original wood trim pieces which will go with the car. I replaced the rear brakes about 100 miles ago as well as the wear sensor. Many other parts are newer including the clutch and full stainless exhaust. There is a K&N drop in air filter that I installed and also replaced the rubber air intake boots about 5000 miles ago. The heated power seats function and the memory function appears to work on the driver seat. Sunroof and interior lights work properly. Onboard computer (on the dash) functions properly and shows accurate figues (temp, MPG, miles to empty, etc.) I averaged about 27-28 mpg on the highway on long trips. Tires have some life left on them but are not new. Rears are better than the fronts. Some parts on the car that will need some attention are the struts and front control arms. The struts are worn out and the ride is quite bouncy. There is some wobble from the front end when driving at certain speeds which is a common indicator of worn out front control arms. The driver seat has some minor twist to it. The previous owner had the driver seat removed to attempt to fix this however when it was removed it tripped the air bag light. The light shows on the dash and will require a special tool or a dealership to reset the light. The brake bomb is beginning to wear out. I have a brand new brake bomb that I will supply with the buyer. I have not had a chance to install it. The electric side mirrors do not move with the button and I have not looked into why. Could be a simple corroded wire or broken wire in the door hinge area. The windshield is cracked however according to Pennsylvania state inspection laws it will pass inspection as-is because the ends of the cracks flow to the end of the windshield and do not inpair the driver's vision. Also the driver headlight lens is cracked and the headlight fixture is loose. I believe the adjustment tabs are broken. The A/C does not blow cold and upon inspection there was a very low amount of pressure in the A/C system. It probably just needs a charge however I don't know for sure. I do not use A/C in any of my cars so this never was a concern to me. This car was originally Delphin Gray Metallic however has been repainted black by one of the previous owners. I do not know when it was repainted. The paint is beginning to fade on the hood and trunk lid. There car was originally from the Chesapeake Bay area and has next to zero rust. I kept the car in a garage in Pittsburgh and did not drive in salty road conditions. The two spots of rust on the car that I saw are on the passenger front door above the door trim and on the corner of the driver door. There are photos of both spots. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to view the car please contact me for arrangements. Payment and removal of the vehicle will be expected within one week of auction close. I will accept cash for payment. Car has a clear PA title. Car will run and drive and I personally would not hesitate in driving it a very long distance. Buyer can fly in and drive the car home if they so wish.
