Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1970 Mercury Cylone GT with a 351 Cleveland 2/bbl. I have about $14000.00 invested in the car. My reserve is well below that total. Right up front, this is not a perfect cyclone. However it is in good conditiion. There are no known problems with the engine or transmition. This Merc looks quite good for its age. First, let me get these items out of the way. To get it into very good condition, the following items could be considered for repair or replacement. The instrument panel pad is cracked and would need to be repaired or replaced. I have checked with a company who does repairs and it would cost about $1200.00 to $1400. The target grill has a piece of the inner rib missing. Probably cost about $600.00 to replace. Can not be seen unless you get down on your knees and look for it. Three or four pieces of side trim could be repaired. Don't look awful, but if I were to keep the car, would do it. Cost about $25.00 per foot or about $250.00 to $300.00. The middle consul has a crack on the drivers side and should be replaced. Not sure of the price. The original radio turns on but will not work. Replaced it with an am/fm/cd. None of these items take away from the overall good looks and condition of the GT. Nothing else has been replaced that is not of original issue. I added the front dam under the front bumper. Now, the things I have done. Had the car wet sanded and repainted original color. Found two places that had signs of surface rust about quarter size. Had them cut out, not bondo, and repaired with sheet metal. There were worn areas on the carpet and headliner. Had them both replaced with original color and texture. Whle the carpet and headliner were out, checked for any rust. It looked really good with no signs of rust. Had the back panel under the rear window replaced and the seal aroung the rear window replaced. Did not leak, but since the window was out, had it replaced. Replaced points, plugs, wires and adjusted the carb. It has power steering and power brakes, No A/C. I purchased the Merc from and individual who said he was the second owner, making me the third. I have done my best to be truthfull and up front on the condition of this GT. If I have missed anything, it was not intentional. Winner of auction is responsible for shippment arrangements and or pickup. A $1000.00 non refundable payment is required, 48 hours after close of auction. This Mercury Cyclone GT is being sold AS IS. Again, it is not perfect. If it were, I would be asking $35,000.00 or more for it. There are absolutely no guarantees or waranty's of any kind. Best of luck and thanks for bidding. Now lets get this puppy started.
