The car made the 600 mile round trip without any issues. Me and the car even spent an hour and half stuck in traffic in Chicago without any cooling issues. The car has perfect oil pressure and the engine coolant temperature gauge sits right in the middle. Since the new engine is officially "broken in" I did a couple "tests" on the highway. At about 70mph, I downshifted into 4th gear, let off the clutch, pushed the accelerator to the floor and counted to 5. My GPS recorded 112mph as the top speed. The car pulls hard through all the gears and sounds amazing! I had the windows down and the radio off almost the entire trip. I got thumbs up and smiles from dozens of people. One guy followed me off the highway and pulled up next to me at the stop light just to tell me how nice the car sounds! I used 16.039 gallons on the way to Michigan with an average fuel mileage of 18.89 miles per gallon (this includes spending 1.5 hours stuck in stop and go Chicago traffic and another half of an hour in Indiana. I used 15.196 gallons on the way home with an an average fuel mileage of 19.939 miles per gallon with almost no traffic. Overall, I used 31.235 gallons of gas round trip (606 miles) so the average fuel mileage was 19.4 miles per gallon. Pretty good for a built V8 with tall rearend gears!
