Vehicle Detail

This is one of those situations where the car found me since I was not looking for a Porsche. I went to look at a Jaguar e-type, which turned out to require a lot of work and I ended not buying that car. A few days later the owner of the Jaguar mentioned that her father was going to be selling a 1979 Porsche 911SC and that he was the original owner. urthermore he had gone to the factory to pick up the car when new. To make a long story short I went to see the Porsche and just had to have it. Although I do not know a thing about Porsches I do know cars and this one gave all the right feelings. The owner still had all the original paperwork; owner's manuals, warranty card (in his name), registrations, radio manuals, German plates, tools, emergency reflector, first aid kit, and even the original invoice! Second, the car itself had been loved all its life. Just last December he spent over $6,000 in mechanical work (new half shafts, seals, etc). There were many receipts and one can tell he was not shy at spending money on his car. I added the receipts since 1998 and the total comes to $31,605. Needless to say, this car was the owner's baby and he did not spare money to properly maintain the car. Body: I cannot find a spec of rust on this car. Gaps are excellent. No signs of it ever being in an accident. I like the fact that nobody stuck a whale tail on this car Paint: Car has been spot paint over the years. Black paint is good enough for a driver but not for a show car Interior: The interior color is cork and done in leather. The two front seats were recovered a few years ago and looks very good. The targa top was also recovered; which I have been told is rather expensive to do. Dash is in good condition without cracks. Still has its original radio. Clock works. Car came with AC which works and blows cold. Tires: Michelin Pilot, in very good condition Engine: Engine starts right up and without smoke. I have no basis for comparison but the engine seems to pull strong and has no unusual noises. There are a few oil leaks but I have been told this is normal. Odometer shows 116K miles but I know this is not correct as the previous owner said the odometer had been replaced at some time. It is being sold as "true mileage unknown" and the title has the mileage indicated as "exempt" Documentation and receipts: This is where this car really shines! Everything from the original invoice (car sold for $30,174 in 1979), to the owner’s manual, warranty booklet, radio booklet, pouch … even the German license plates when the car was driven from the factory. This car is not perfect but I doubt you will find a more honest 911SC at this price. One owner, great color combination, all the original paperwork, many receipts, recent service ….just drive and enjoy it. Below is a summary of some of the maintenance items performed during the last 10 years. As I mentioned, receipts totaling over $31,600 come with the car. oil line engine to thermostat oil line tank to thermostat tensioner upgrade kit crankcase vent hose sway bar links tires strut inserts shock absorbers disc brake rotors brake pads windshield motor L & R rear axles oil intake tube AC evaporator blower motor new dash catalytic converter front hood struts rear deck strut air box and boot replace leather seat covers recover targa top and replace seals replace injector bushings and o rings ignition wire set oil pressure switch roll bar alternator fan and housingYou should see a collage with many additional photos above this description.
