Vehicle Detail
This vehicle is a 1984 Dodge Ram 250 3/4 ton 2wd with a 4 cylinder Isuzu 4BD1A turbocharged diesel engine. This truck originally had a 5.9L gas engine. The Isuzu diesel engine was installed in 5/92 as a new engine. The engine has 89,383 miles on it, and the vehicle has 191,533 miles. The Isuzu engine is a 4BD1A, which is a 235 cubic inch non-turbocharged engine rated at 100 HP. The turbocharger was added to the engine when the engine was installed, and the engine is set at approximately 125 HP. This vehicle has achieved 30 MPG at highway speeds (55-65 MPH), and has excellent torque for pulling trailers, due to the large cubic inch displacement of the 4 cylinders. These engines will easily go 500,000 miles or more, and are very reliable, trouble-free engines. The body of the truck has rust, as is obvious in the pictures. The chassis is solid. The transmission is a 727 Torque-flite, with a lock-up torque convertor. The transmission was rebuilt and upgraded when the Isuzu engine was installed. The rear tires are brand new, and the front tires are 50-60 % on tread. The bench seat is torn on the driver side, and needs to be re-covered/ re-upholstered. This truck does not have air-conditioning (unless you consider windows), nor does it have power locks or power windows. It does have power brakes and power steering. This truck is for the most part solid mechanically - it just needs to have some TLC in regards to the body and bench seat in order to make this a REALLY nice and unique truck. We will perform any tune-up work required on the engine before the truck is sold (i.e. valve lash adjustment, etc.). We own a diesel fuel injection and drive-in service repair facility, and have owned the truck since 1989. This truck would possibly be a good candidate for a person wanting to run waste vegetable oil, although this truck has never been run on anything other than pump fuel.
