Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 2002 Chevy Impala. I have owned this car since it had 4,202 miles on it. All but maybe 30,000 miles on this car are all highway miles as I drove 76 miles a day round trip to go to college and back from 2003 to 2005. I bought it as a water damaged car out of Texas, but I looked at it prior to it being cleaned and seriously, I could not tell where the water had been on it. In coastal states, a car being in 20% emerged in water is considered water damaged and 20% of a car emerged in water would just barely cover the wheels and floorboard. If you put your shoes under the seat from the back seat, they will get a little surface rust from the seat frame, so it at least came up to the bottoms of the seat frame. There was absolutely no electronic failures in any component on this car since I have owned it. The only mechanical failures have been the intake manifold developed a bug hole which is typical of 3.8 GM engines which was replaced in 2004 I believe, and the transmission gave out on it in 2010, which is why I am selling it. It has been sitting in my driveway since February of 2010. I have started it regularly and it fires easily, but will probably need a new battery. Engine is strong, starts on the first bump of the key, no knocks, leaks or funny sounds or smells, all electronics and switches work (except for cruise control and I don't know why it stopped, but the switch is missing from the turn signal switch so that might be the reason) and there are a lot of new parts on the car which I will mention below. Oil was changed every 3,500 miles up until 100,000 miles, and I started using a synthetic blend of oil and switched to changing oil every 5,000 miles. It does not use any oil and doesn't leak. Cold A/C and that is important since this summer has been so hot. Car has every bell and whistle except for the sunroof. Leather interior is in good shape in the seats with a tear in the driver's seat on the leather panel below the seat. This car has both driver and passenger power and heated seats. Rear passenger seat is dirty and has a few scratches, but may clean up with some elbow grease. Front driver's and rear passenger's door panel are damaged from me getting my wheelchair in and out of the car (see pictures) which is also the cause of some other imperfections with the car. Has a premium sound system in it with both single CD player and cassette player from the factory. Both work fine and sound exceptionally well. Speakers should be fine as I hardly ever had the stereo up at full volume. I listened to talk radio more than music so the speakers were never stressed beyond capacity since I've had it. Wheels are perfect, never curbed and the only blemishes on them are from the wheel weights from times past. Body is in very straight condition and most of the paint looks pretty well. Has typical paint chips on the hood and the front of the front fenders. Paint is chipped on the rear driver's door from wheelchair (see picture). There are three or four dents from a hailstorm we had about three months ago, but nothing serious (see pictures). A car this old is going to have dents and that should be expected. The transmission is bad as mentioned above. The transmission would work fine some days and others, it would act up and slip from time to time starting about December of 2009, especially when cold. I had it flushed and new fluid, but that didn't help. I had someone look at it, but it would never do the things it was doing for the person I took it to and you all know how that is. Then in February of 2010, it bit the dust. It has been sitting in the driveway ever since with the intent to fix it, but it never happened. I bought another car with a burnt engine, but found out the Pontiac version of this transmission had a different gear ratio and wouldn't work. I wound up fixing the burnt engine in the Pontiac and I am driving it now, so this Impala has to go. Also, the accident report states that the car was significantly damaged in a car accident in 2003. This is in error. Yes I did have an accident, but the damage was only sheet metal, no structural damage at all. The airbags did not deploy and the damage was minimal. I drove the car for two months before getting the repair done. It involved the front fender (passenger) the hood, headlight, and front bumper cover. All was replaced with Genuine GM parts and the only thing that wasn't fixed was I didn't have the painted on pinstripe replaced which is visible in the pictures. Also in the pictures, you can see that the lower panel below the steering wheel is off. I have it and it can be reattached I just didn't do it prior to taking the pictures. The reason it is off is I had to take my hand controls off of it. The History report may also say something about a lien on the car, but the lien has been lifted. New Parts: 1. New brake pads all around about 5,500 miles ago with new rotors on the front. 2. New wheel bearings on both sides in the front. 3. New speedometer sensor 4. New Oil sending unit 5. Other new parts I can't think of at the moment You are bidding to BUY, not LOOK at this vehicle! The reserve isn't much more than the starting bid. I am asking less than $2,000 for it and the parts from it are worth more than that. I have represented the overall condition of the car vary accurately as you can see with the pictures. The mileage may be more or less than what is mentioned, but it is close to the 143K mentioned. I didn't charge the battery to check it as it is digital. I also cannot get in the car where it is sitting because we had to move it a while back. I will not deliver, but I will help with shipping should you choose that option, however you will have to make all arrangements. $500 at the end of auction close. Good luck and happy bidding! Please e-mail with any questions and I will answer them as quickly as possible.
