Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1985 BMW 528e. I have owned the car for 5 years and it has provided me with great joy. I have over $12,000 in receipts attempting to make it one of the best driving E28 BMWs on the road. I have come very close to achieving that goal. Below is a brutally honest description of the car. Background: -Maroon on black vinyl interior, black floor mats -5 speed manual transmission -CD changer -Air Conditioning (ice cold) -Sunroof -100k original miles (daily driver might increase) -2 inch folder of original owner receipts from BMW authenticating the low miles! Modifications: -Front and rear strut tower braces (Ireland Engineering) -3.46 posi differential from a low mile e24 -Z3 short shift kit, ZHP shifter knob (From BMW) -Mark D’Sylvia chip -E34 Basket Weave wheels, Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread tires -“IS” rear spoiler -“M” racing style peddles Maintenance items: -Front end R/R @ 60k miles -Wheel alignment @ 60k miles -Sofica blow motor @ 65k miles -Air Conditioning R/R @ 75k miles -Boge Turbo Gas Shocks @ 75k miles -BMW Replacement Pass rear Window @ 78k miles -Door seals, window channels, and weather-strips @ 80k miles -BMW head gasket, valve cover gasket, water pump and timing belt @ 80k miles -Valve Adjustment @ 80k miles -Rear body mounts (Ireland Engineering) @ 90k miles -Rear dog bones (Ireland Engineering) @ 90k miles -Brake pads and rotors @ 90k miles -Coolant reservoir and all hoses @ 90k miles -Z3 Shifter @ 95k miles -Bosal Replacement Exhaust and all Donuts/Hardware @ 95k miles -Thermostat and coolant @ 100k miles The Good: Drives like a dream! Glides smooth over the road and tracks straight, stops straight! A/C blows cold, dash does not rattle. Mechanically sound – I drive this car 500-600 miles weekly. Shifting is very sporty – short and tight throw between gears. The Bad: Trunk seal gasket leaks in HEAVY rain (I mean drips after raining for 2 full days), hood had a small crease from a hood hinge issue I have not fixed, tach is inaccurate (no big deal with an M20), there are two small tares in the headliner on each sail panel (2 inches long on both driver and passenger side), deck lid has a few heavy scratches, and the brakes squeak under heavy breaking despite being brand new, brake lining censor is disconnected, and the dash is cracked like every other e28 on the planet. You’ll be hard pressed to find another daily driver so well sorted out! Regards, Dan 914-715-4081
