Vehicle Detail

This bus is being relisted because of a non-paying bidder last time. Please do not bid unless you are prepared to follow through with the transaction. This is my 1971 Volkswagen Transporter Westfalia camper bus that runs and drives great. This is a great example of the classic "bay window" VW buses, which are becoming very rare and collectible. I'm selling with no reserve. The bus is in excellent mechanical condition and I would trust it to drive cross-country. The engine has been rebuilt, the transmission shifts well and the brakes and suspension are good. I have a huge folder of records and receipts for mechanical work that total over $12,000, including the rebuilt engine, and TONS of mechanical work. The previous owner spared no expense in keeping this bus in top mechanical shape. This bus has the pop-top tent (which is brand new) with a rooftop sleeping cot, plus all the camping amenities including an icebox, stainless steel sink, folding dinette table, plus a folding double bed, and a small cot for over the driver's seats. This bus runs and drives perfectly, I would trust it to go cross-country and back with no worries. The engine starts perfectly and it is smooth and doesn't smoke, though it does drip a tiny bit of oil (not much). The transmission shifts great once you are acquainted with shifting a VW bus, and the clutch and pressure plate are brand new. The brakes work fine, and the suspension is tight. There are no known mechanical problems. This is a very original bus, but it is by no means pristine in appearance, I would call it a "hippie ratrod". The heat works (rare) and it is a great bus to just use and enjoy without worries. There is some rust, including by the rocker panels and front floorboards, and it has been repainted to cover the previous owner's idea of a tie-dye paint scheme. The bus IS SOLID underneath and all the "guts" are solid. The heat exchangers and heater pipes are still intact, which is rare. The rooftop sleeping cot will need new canvas. Please note, this is far from a rust-free showroom gem- this is a fun driver! It gets attention wherever you drive- everyone loves it! It is ready to drive anywhere. I have it stored in my building in Willoughby, OH email me or call/text me at 440 339 4341 if you would like to see it. I wasn't even able to spread them all out on my 8-foot table! The folder contains around 105 pages of records and receipts (adding up to over $12,000), and details the history back to at least 1990. Try finding another bus with this kind of service history and records! On Aug-03-11 at 16:33:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a link to a photo album of many detailed photos of the bus- http://s803.photobucket.com/albums/yy319/john8md/1971%20VW%20Transporter%20Westfalia/
