1976 Honda CB550K'76 Four motorcycle showing 12,382 miles, (as of today) in OEM Candy Garnet Brown livery, (the only color offered.) The bike has had three owner's from new, the first from 1976 to 2010, the second from 8/'10 to 3/'11 and myself from 3/'11 to the present. The bike is currently tabbed through August '11 and has a clean, clear Title in my name. The bike is in very good used original condition. Since purchasing it I have done the following maintenance and repairs: New Michelin tires, tubes and rim bands.Front fork seals replaced and fluid changed.Front brake master cylinder cleaned and rebuilt with OEM parts; front brake caliper cleaned, seal replaced; fluid changed; new EBC brake pads installed.Steering head bearings checked and adjusted.Engine fully serviced: Cam chain tension adjusted. Valves adjusted. Ignition timing adjusted. New spark plugs installed. Oil and filter changed. New air filter installed. Carburetors were disassembled, cleaned, float levels set, synched, idle speed set.Swingarm bushings checked and lubricated.Rear brake checked, cleaned and adjusted. The bike starts, idles and runs properly pulling strong to near redline in all gears, (I do not redline my bikes.) The engine shows no signs of head or base gasket leakage common to these bikes. All electrical systems are present, (including the infernal turn signal beeper) and function properly. The bike has a Wagner Halogen headlamp and with this in place the charging output is 13.7 volts @ 5000 rpm, (I believe this number would increase with the installation of an OEM incandescent bulb.) The bike handles well at all speeds from in-town to freeway riding. As with all the small Honda Fours the engine is very smooth and quiet, a muted exhaust note emanating from the stock 4-into-4 HM323 exhaust. Cosmetically the bike is in very good original condition but shows the effects of the passage of the years and miles travelled in the Pacific Northwest environment. I repaired a small rusted area atop the #1 muffler just aft of the connection to the headpipe and a rusted area on the bottom of the #3 muffler aft of the headpipe. The paint on the top of the tank is just beginning to "go green" as all the old Hondas of this shade seem to, their single-stage paint jobs not particularly UV stable. The right, battery side cover has been broken at the lower mounting tab from careless removal in the past. I have repaired it with adhesive and JB Weld and it should be fine if removed and replaced with care. All the rubber mounting grommets for both side covers are present and in good condition. The seat is very nice showing just one small area of weakness on the very back right beneath the HONDA logo. The chrome on the bike is in good condition overall but shows signs of our humidity levels in that there is light peppering visible in direct sunlight. The clock faces show the typical fading and discoloration of the needle tips and redline area. The grips are the originals and have lost some of their rubber fins on the bottoms. The switchgear is in good shape and fully functional. The Owner's Manual and toolkit are present. All in all this is quite a nice 35 year old, unmolested motorcycle. I have not hesitated to take it on rides short and long and it usually gets some attention wherever I park it. It is being sold "as is" with no warranty expressed or implied but I have addressed all the issues relating to day to day operation while it has been in my care.
