Vehicle Detail

Offered again (see noate below) is a rare 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6, which is quick, fast and goes down the road just great. Shifting is smooth, the ANSA exhaust produces a rich sound, and steering is precise. Tires, brakes, clutch, wiper action, lights and horn are good. There is a sunroof, which does not leak and it operates the way it should. Doors open and close properly, the electric windows go all the way up and most of the way down, and the car looks good from a short distance. The interior is quite decent, except for the driver's seat cushion, whose top leather covering is badly split. The passenger seat and rear seats are fine, although the passenger seat -- like the driver's -- is covered with a black leather cushion for balance in appearance. Carpeting is red, and there are black embossed floor mats. There are no major dents, but lots of pebble marks, mostly on the piece which stretches across the front. The hood is a slightly different hue of red, but the difference is not very noticeable. There is a bit of surface rust, some paint fading and paint cracks, so new paint definitely is needed. There is rust in all wheel wells, coming through on the front passenger side near the moulding (see picture) and in the passenger side of the thin metal wall which makes up the engine bay (see picture). To the best of my knowledge, all the rust problems are repairable and do not affect structure. Remember, the car can be driver, as is, just fine. It feels very solid on the road. A previous owner relocated the outside passenger mirror, leaving a small hole exposed. It was my plan to have the hole filled when the car was painted. I bought the car late last year from a reputable Alfa mechanic in the Chicago area. He delivered the car, and during the 20-mile trip the speedometer sender broke. A new sender has been obtained and will be given to the new owner. I have put less than 200 miles on the car since it was delivered, mostly around the neighborhood. At present, the odometer reads 12271 miles, so I assume the car has 112,271 miles, plus the few I have put on since delivery. I had planned a total restoration -- I love these cars -- but personal problems make that impractical now. I did add a Momo steering wheel, and a direct-flow air filer from International Auto Parts (see pictures). Also, the car was serviced before I took delivery. Included is a spare tire, jack, original owner's manual, crank for the front windows, and the original steering wheel and horn button with the Alfa Romeo crest. The radio turns on and the telescoping antenna works, but the speakers must be replaced. I think the car is worthy of restoration, and I hope that will be done. The car is sold as is, with no warranty stated or implied. The car has a clear Illinois title, in the name of the seller. Title will be sent to buyer after full payment is completed -- within seven days after the close of the auction -- by cashier's check from a major institution located within the continental United States whose source can be verified by phone by the seller. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer, although seller will assist as is possible. If you have questions, please send an e-mail. Good luck in bidding. Bidders with negative feeback or fewer than six Ebay transactions should contact the owner before bidding. Note: three previous "buyers" proved otherwise, so this probably be the final listing if non-payment occurs again. Preferred buyer would make a desposit to PayPal immediately, and then immediately contact seller regarding payment completion, title transfer and vehicle pickup,
