Vehicle Detail

1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray black on black 90,000 original miles. This car was kept out of the weather in a garage for 12 years on jack stands. It has what i was told to be the numbers matching 327 engine but i have not been able to confirm this because the engine has had work done and the numbers that are normally on the front part of the engine by the head has been shaved off.If you know of other areas for me to get the numbers that will help out greatly. It was originally a 4 speed but was converted to an automatic some years ago.It does still have the pedals but i DO NOT have the standard transmission.I drive this car at least 3 times a week and it has no problems taking me wherever i want to go.It has fairly new tires on centerline rims. This car will need a full restoration, but you can drive it while you work on it.It does still sport the original paint but it is pretty faded and has rock chips and knicks here and there. There is no major body damage or cracks anywhere on the car.All the glass is in great shape with no cracks or scratches. The interior will need some attention, but the door panels, dash, radio, guages etc are in nice shape. The top has one very small slit in it but would last a few more years. There is no rust under the car on the frame. It has had a full brake job with new lines, calipers, pads and wheel cylinders. Things it will need:A gas tank(running on a fuel cell right now, there is no gas tank).Interior work(seat covers, carpet).Body and paint work. Some of the chrome has surface rust and will need to be replaced or re chromed. The ac does not work but it does blow air out of vents(the heater does work).Still has the original radio that also works. The only guages that do not work are the fuel and clock. The tac and speedometer work. This would make someone a very nice car with a little more work.If you need more pics or info please don't hesitate to email me. The good:Turn key,no problems with engine or transmission.Very strong running car with cam, intake and holley carb.No smoke or knocks,no slipping in the trans. Can be a driven anywhere you want to go with no problems.Im selling this car to finish one of my other projects,i just do not have time to work on it and i would rather sell it than let it just sit.The wipers work, the radio works, all the guages work except the fuel and clock. No electical problems known. AGAIN:IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WANT MORE PICTURES OF SOMETHING PLEASE EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW.I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU AS FAST AS I CAN.THERE IS A 500.00 NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. I HAVE SET THE RESERVE AT A FAIR PRICE.IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUYER PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR CONTACT INFO AND WE CAN TALK.On Jul-28-11 at 08:55:15 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added more pics including the trim tag, parts of the frame that i could get and storage compartment. The frame has old undercoating on it and some surface rust.It wipes off with your hand, there is no rust out on the frame.I have also collected the numbers off the engine. There are as follows. Left rear-3914678 Right rear-E288(above these is a small tag with an 8 on it).On Jul-28-11 at 19:25:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that i do have the spare tire and cover.I also have the gas tank straps. The top line of the trim tag shows K06 which is June 6, 1968 The 3914678 block was used for all 1968 Corvettes, 327/300hp and 327/350hp The E288 casting date is May 28,1968 ... perfect timing for a June 6 car build date. (after the block was cast in Saginaw Michigan on 5/28, it went to Flint Michigan for building .. and then shipped to StLouis for the car - even with Memorial Day in there, the timing is GM perfect) THIS ENGINE IS MOST LIKELY THE ORIGINAL ENGINE as far as the dates go. The tach is for a 327/350hp L79. The engine has obviously been worked on(improved). Someone will get a good deal here. Thanks for all the info on decoding the engine!!
