Vehicle Detail

Offered here is the 1962 Plymouth Valiant, V-200 sedan. This car came in out in 1960 and retained its original, odd look until 1963 when they were altered to look more like the Dodge Dart, which they also resemble under the hood. The post-63 models can be found occasionally, but the first 3 years have become extremely rare. I have know idea why, considering the old-timers who are constantly telling me this car will "run for ever". They have a point. The Valiant features the famed Mopar Slant 6, with a 225 cu. in. displacement. It is a legendary engine, and one of the most durable Detroit ever built. What it does not feature is the push-button auto transmission that everyone seems to love. It is a manual shift, "3-on-the-tree". The Valiant was analogous to the Dart, the Ford Falcon, and the Chevy Corvair. They were everyman's workhorses, with panache. The Good: New clutch. New alternator. New starter motor. New water pump, and all coolant hoses. New drive shaft. Rebuilt bench seat. Newish brake pads and drums. Tires in good condition. Rebuilt transmission. All glass is intact Original hubcaps. No registration issues. This car is a daily driver, and is registered til the end of the year. Will never need to be smogged. Rebuilt floor pans. Zero rust there, with new carpet. Fully functional, original vacuum tube AM radio, with dash speaker. KFRC will be your new co-pilot. The Bad: Needs some body work and a fresh coat of paint. Engine needs to be rebuilt. But wouldn't yours? She burns some oil and has uneven compression. Ratty headliner and rear seat. Slight leak in gas tank. Will need to be welded or replaced. As you drive away, you''ll see me crying in the rear-view. Do not be deterred by this. She and I have had our time. Now it's your turn. I have owned this car for 15 years. Until last week, she is the only car I have ever owned. She's performed reliably on roadtrips through the western states. But, I need a truck for my business now and it's time to pass her on.
