Rare and fun Renault R5GTL LeCar "Black Beauty" special edition! This is a one-owner car from Western Montana. 49 State car. The mileage is accurate. The LeCar is in remarkable shape considering how disposable these cars seemed to be, even from new... The 'Black Beauty' package includes really cool alloy wheels, a hood scoop, a console radio, a great chunky sport steering wheel, and of course the black paint and snazzy red racing pinstriping. This is Black Beauty edition #682 of 2500. The round headlight cars were only produced for the USA for 3 years and are very rare and really charming. Always get a thumbs up and tons of attention from all ages. There is minimal rust on the car. This lucky LeCar was garaged and not driven winters. The only perforation is on the driver's 1/4 panel, a 2"x3" hole above the side marker light. Common spot for these to rust. The rust has been chemically treated and painted and is not advancing. No holes in the floor, no rust on chassis members, fasteners remove easily. Solid, solid car. All the keys work in the locks, the tires are not great but will hold air. The car comes with an additional set of steel rims with decent Michelin XZX tires on them, but all these tires are obviously quite old and for safety should be replaced. The LeCar runs and drives. The brakes, parking brake, clutch and transmission work fine. All electrics work. Speedo needle is stuck . Seats are nice and comfortable, carpet is clean, and the dash and door panels look great and are not cracked. I drove the car 25 miles on the Freeway and it performed great. Currently, the LeCar won't hold an idle without the choke out a bit. I am sure it is one of the many vacuum emission hoses and nothing major. The car comes with several manuals and many service records, including the original window sticker! These are charming, fun little cars, rewarding to drive, amazing (40+) MPG, and really handle remarkably, considering their front-wheel drive nature and little 13" wheels. The suspension is by torsion bars/shocks all around, and these can be dialed down to match the lower European-spec ride height, with apparently an even better impact on handling. There is plenty of internet forum support (great folks!) and several parts sources in the US, which I will share with the new owner. Clean CA title and registered NON-OP. I did not take the LeCar to get smogged but considering the low mileage, and the 100% original and complete engine bay, It should not be hard to get it past. It does not have a CAT and is not required to have one, per it's original build specs. I have several classic cars, including a Citroen DS, and I bought the LeCar on a whim as an economic, fun LA car, but I just haven't gotten to it and I dont think I will in the near future, since I am rebuilding the air suspension on a 72 300SEL. I am simply trying to recover some of my investment in the LeCar and pass her on to someone in a better situation to return her to the road than I am currently in.
