Vehicle Detail
A very nice classic, 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for sale. Due to having too many project vehicles to handle, my wife thinks that this FJ40 restoration will never happen in my lifetime. Sadly, I do believe she's right. So it has to GO!! This FJ40 spent a sort time in Michigan and then Wyoming before it came to Pennsylvania. The lady who I bought it from, who is in her mid 50's, has had this Cruiser since she was 18yrs. old. She swears that it has never seen winter driving. I can believe that, however, there was rust that was present in the rocker panels on both sides and on the left rear pillar post for the tail gate mount before I had it painted. The body shop who painted the Cruiser had the old metal rot cut out and new metal welded in. As you can see from the pictures of the frame, and from the inside and outside pictures of the floor boards, this Land Cruiser has no other rot present except surface rust on the driver side floor board. The diamond plate cab corners are not hiding rust either. (I was told that the 2 holes in the diamond plate on the drivers side was for a Jerry Can mount to store extra gasoline? I questioned that myself.) I must say that I'm not pleased with the quality of work from the body shop. If you look closely at some of the close up paint shots, you will see runs. It just needs wet sanded and buffed out to make it nice. The soft top that is included has regretfully been chewed up by mice. There are 2 sets of soft top doors with NO mice holes in them though. All soft top components are from the Best Top manufacturer and can still be purchased from them as far as I know. (They're laying across the back seat. See photo.) I'm not sure of the actual miles on this Land Cruiser. The odometer says 44552, however that could be 144552 considering it is a 1971 model. I tend to believe the lower mileage is correct since the engine feels tight and that it has survived for 40+ years of use with minimal rust spots. Things the Cruiser needs: Wiper arms Door mirrors Rear swing gate for the spare tire. Muffler with exhaust to rear of vehicle. Correct hinges for the rear lift gate door. Also, there is over $1500 in rims and tires on the vehicle. This is a very nice base vehicle to do a restoration from. I you look at restored FJ40 Land Cruisers on eBay that are this age, the prices are outrageous! If you have the time and will power to see this Cruiser restored, your investment will be minimal considering the price it will command when complete. You may call with question, but please leave a message if there is no answer. 570-439-5734. Thanks for looking and, Good luck bidding! Regards, John
