Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration is a 1927 Ford Model T Roadster Boat Tail Speedster. This car was purchased from a Doctor from Illinois that bought it when he was 19 years old. He was 94 years old when I purchased it from him. It was an original Roadster until around 1970 when he took it into his bodyman and had a Boat tail Speedster custom built. The way you see it today is pretty much the way I bought it from him. I have added new Coker BF Goodrich wide whitewall tires and new inner tubes and flaps. It starts and runs very well. I get many thumbs up when driving it around. The car runs on both battery and magneto. The headlamps work on both low and high beam. Taillight and brake light both work. I installed a new brake light switch. have flushed the cooling system. Changed motor oil on regular basis. Installed a hogshead magnetic oil filter screen, installed a new battery, new fan belt, new bushings in the fan housing. changed rear differential gear lube. The 2 speed transmission shifts well in both low and high gears, reverse works well, no slippage noticed. Installed new frost plugs, new Champion X show spark plugs. I am selling this because I no longer seem to have the time to drive the car. It has always been stored inside. Please ask questions before bidding. If you need to talk to me in person please call 507-254-1640 otherwise email me your questions and I will be more then happy to answer your questions the best that I can. This is a nice car but is by no means a show car. Note: The motor was replaced in 1970 with a 1925 Model T motor so the motor is not original to the car. He indicated to me that the motor was freshened up at that time but I have no documentation to back that up. I recently did a valve job and had the head off and the pistons and cylinder walls still looked very good. The valve springs were getting weak so that is why the valve job was done. The Car is for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end auction if cars sells locally. On Jul-11-11 at 04:34:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the previous owner had installed a foot throttle in the car as well. The foot throttle works very nice. The car still has the original hand lever throttle as well. If you would like to see more pictures please let me know. I will do my best to snap some for you.
