VIN 9126000781, Red (original black), black interior, factory sunroof, Fuch wheels, looks great (from a distance). Everything kept original except installation of hydraulic lifters, and after market oil cooler. Documents and maintenance records kept since 1976. Registration valid until April 2012. 205k miles and in running condition but needs restoration for engine, exterior and interior. Would love to have it restored myself but choose to pay for kids’ education instead. No rust or major damage. Kept only in California, partially restored after I bought it from the original owner in 1998 who had purchased it new from dealer (Allred Porsche Audi) in Glendale, California. By the end of production in 1976, the Zuffenhausen factory had produced 2092 912Es, delivered primarily to North America, about 500 were produced with electric sunroof as an option. The final 912E constructed also became the last air-cooled four-cylinder car produced by Porsche. Powered by the 2.0 liter fuel-injected 914-derived engine, the 912E shares the chassis and body styling of the 911S coupe. The Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system used is often referred to as the Air Flow Controlled (AFC) system later adapted for use in the 911 series. With its 21 U.S. gallon fuel tank and fuel-efficient engine, the 912E's 600+ miles driving range may be the best of any Porsche ever made.
