Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1977 CJ5. dark green in color. 4 speed manual tranny. It's a jeep and is an every once in a while drive around vehicle for my family for summer time so it is not perfectly restored or anything like that. About two years ago shortly after buying it I replaced the engine with a rebuilt straight 6 (the original engine) that was professionally installed by my local mechanic. It has a new fuel pump, a new carb, new fuel lines and the electrical was updated. Again, all professionally installed and maintained. I am not a mechanic by any means. The top is a newer Best Top with clear plastic on the windows. Have not done any real 4 wheeling with it but I have had it in 4 wheel on my 5 acres where we live and it works perfectly. As you can see in the pictures, the interior front seats have tears. They are the comfortable high backs, and I have always had covers on them and they have been fine. The gauges are typical jeep fashion....broken. The spedo does not work due to the oversized tires and the gas gauge does not either which is it biggest fault. Heat, wipers, etc all work. Body is a fiberglass replacement, which is a great plus as a jeep rusting out is a question of when not if. It’s also why I re-did some electrical because the previous owner did not ground it properly so I kept having issues. The lift is almost all suspension, and all very heavy duty 1/4" steel welds plus springs. As you can see in the pic. The bumpers are off because I am getting them powder coated. This was already in the plan before I decided to sell it so now that they are off I am just getting it done. It has headers and a nice exhaust and sounds very nice, but I think the headers have a small exhaust leak and needs a new gasket. So you know (and I realize people make stuff up on this all the time so I'm not hurt if you don't take me at my word) I have not driven the jeep for any appreciable time in two summers now. We are building a new house right now, and I already have 4 cars in my fleet thanks to kids so I plain ole don't need this and am not getting use out of it while paying insurance every month. (And moving it out of the way around other cars). Only thing I would say is that if you want it to be an everyday jeep you need to plan to go with smaller radial tires. The bias ones on it are big and made for mud and look great, but it makes the vehicle at little squirrely at higher speeds versus a good radial all terrain tire. Happy bidding, happy to answer any questions.
