Vehicle Detail

Selling my CLEAN 1986 Subaru Brat GL 4WD. I bought it in April 2010 with a newer, incorrect 2.2L engine installed. I removed that engine for another project and now it has the correct 1.8L "EA82" carburated engine. Dual-range 4-speed 4WD trans. Motor mileage ~110k, rest of car unknown (odometer doesn't work, stuck at 149999). Originally from Florida, I bought it from a guy in Ohio, who was the only person ever to let it see snow (1 winter). VERY little rust as a result, probably the cleanest Gen 2 Brat in WI. New clutch when we put the EA82 in, shifts through all gears fine, synchros are a little crunchy but nothing crazy. Trans leaves a few drops of gear oil on the ground after a long drive, 4WD works well in high and low range. Interior is pretty nice, dash has a few cracks, driver's seat has a few rips, otherwise really nice. T-tops are in great shape and don't leak. Stereo just quit working one day, no idea why. I also have the correct full-size spare tire that is stored under the hood, which is not pictured but will be included with the car. The engine has a crappy (OEM) Hitachi feedback carburetor with an overly complex vacuum system - ever since I put the motor in it has not run quite right. Idles fine and runs fine at wide open throttle, but has a pretty huge flat spot in the rev range and an occasional hot start issue. The speedometer cable also broke recently. I was going to put a Weber carb on it to simplify the whole thing (complete kits are common and only cost $250 brand new), but I don't have the time. There is also a loud exhaust leak coming from the y-pipe flanges where they bolt to the heads. I will probably end up doing the Weber and fixing everything if there is no interest. I would highly recommend towing it. It drives well enough to get you where you're going, once you get on the freeway it's a lot easier, but in town is a bit challenging. It is also LOUD. If you want to try that is up to you. This would be a great candidate for a project, or just drive it like it is and enjoy it. There is so little rust on it, it would take very little work to seal it up and preserve it. I nave never seen another Brat this clean on the road in WI. I would keep it if I had the room, but I'm going back to school and need to give up some projects. I also have a few spare engines, multiple transmissions (everything from AWD auto to 4WD dual-range 5-speed to FWD 5-speed), spare wheel sets, and many other parts for 80s 1600/1800/Loyale Subarus that can be purchased with the Brat for an additional cost if desired. I reserve the right to end this auction without notice at any time, as I also have the vehicle for sale locally. Winning bidder must pay non-refundable $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end, with the remaining balance due within 7 days in either cash or certified cashier's check. If you are a first time bidder, please contact me before bidding, otherwise your bid will be REMOVED! Thanks and good luck!
