I purchased this car with the intention of restoring it on weekends. I have spent a lot of money bringing it up to par regarding scheduled maintenance. However my daily driver has developed needs so this one must go. The car has been parked in Bethesda for the last month. I have gone back and forth on selling it or keeping it, but my daily driver must be serviced. My loss... Your gain. I bought the car near the beginning of March and my repair list speaks for itself. No short cuts taken. I had a pre-purchase inspection done at BMW Exluservice in Rockville Maryland and they gave me the green light to begin my restoration (please see scanned invoice below). I have receipts for the service they completed as well as the parts I purchased from Pelican Parts. I have addressed almost everything on their list. The only serious things I have not completed are rear drivers side window motor, adjusting the exhaust bracket per the pre-purchase inspection notes, and replacing the two sensors for the coolant level and windshield washer level. Those are cheap and easy to install (about $25.00 each). Roughly $2,000.00 invested just into updating required maintenance/service! I have invoices from Pelican and the BMW specialty repair shop. I am still searching for my tire and inner/outer tie rod receipts. Overall Condition The Good: The body looks nice and straight overall Paint is nice and shiny overallNo visible rust The interior is very nice overall Major Service just completed Roughly $2,000.00 dollars spent on service in last 2 months The dash is crack freeHeadline is niceDoor panels are niceAll doors open and shut cleanlyHood opens normally and stays in up position as it should Seals look good all over car All Exterior lighting worksAll interior lighting worksCruise Control worksBrakes are goodSuspension seems fineAll door locks functionGlove box is in good condition Sunroof cranks smoothly up and down as well as front to backThe air conditioning and heat function as they should The car DOES NOT: smoke, overheat or leave stains in the drivewayThe engine starts immediately and the transmission shifts into all gears appropriatelyAll lighting worksNewer style coolant bottleThe horn beeps just fine You can drive it home today (with your own plates) The Bad: The reclining adjuster lever on the drivers seat needs to be cleaned and lubed (the recline mechanism sticks sometimes) There is a small stone impact towards the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side almost all the way at the bottom of the windshield (again easily repaired)Drivers seat bottom upholstery is frayed but other seats look almost perfectOdometer stopped functioning the day I parked it (cheap fix and common problem) I meant to get around to doing a brake fluid flush as well as a transmission fluid and filter but I haven't had time Left washer nozzle is still clogged (I haven't had time to get around to it)Parking brake needs to be adjusted All gauges work although the gas gauge needle does momentarily flicker very slightly (but only occasionally)Alignment needs to be done (because of inner/outer ties rod replacement) Again if you have a question about the condition of the car just look at the service invoice below from the BMW experts themselves. Please bear in mind that this car is 21 years old and will not be perfect. I tried to list everything I could think of wrong with the car in my description. If something was missed it was unintentional and will not negate sale. The car is sold as is.
