1978 BMW R-Series

1978 bmw r100s Ibought this bike about 2 years ago from original owner though a middle man he only used it in the summer a little over three hundred miles a year it had about 10,900 original miles on it when i bought it. Even an original, low miliege, garage kept bike like this needed lots to make it worthy of safe reliable touring again. Heres what i did new tires, new front brakes, new rear brakes changed all fluids, oil, tranny, rear end, brake, and lubed all cables thoughly clutch, brake, and throttle, had both carberators completley rebuilt the right way 600 dollars right there, front end rebuilt and upgraded,major tune up in cluding valve adjustment, also bike has K n N air filter, replaced windshield, bought brand new old stock krauser side bags from germany they look beautiful and function perfect not like the bags you will get on an older air head you will buy also had machenic go over complete bike with fine tooth comb. I then gave the bike a major detailing and then the bike was in the shape it was in 32 years ago. I spent a ton of money getting this bike right you can now go anywhere with it it is super reliable and runs like new. P. S last i put in a 200 dollar military grade dry cell battery i spared no expense making this bike right only one problem about a year ago the odometer stoped working the speedometer works and so does everything else so the miliege is about 13,000 and it is original if the odometer was working on this or any bike it doesnt prove any thing someone could have had it disconnected for 25 years i only know the miliage is truly around 13,000 because of the condition of the bike but mainly from talking to the old man who owned it or i wouldnt have bought it thats what sold me on it.
