Vehicle Detail
I will regret selling this bike, but it is time to move on. I am planning to purchase my first K bike. This is my 3rd R100RS and it is in top shape. You can ride it home without concern. it is just that solid. Tires are near new (front approx 1500 miles; rear less than 500) The bike simply runs great. It starts on first push of the starter when choked. Place choke in the second position and ride away; no need to warm up. Just keep the revs low until engine warms, then it runs easily to redline, if that what you want to do. This is a 1984 BMW R100RS, and if you know the history of the RS series, the R100RS the first fully faired production motorcycle. It was designed in the wind tunnel, thus the sleek arerodynamic fairing. This bike is in excellent overall condition. Mechanically I would rate it a 10 our of ten; in needs absolutely no repairs of any kind. Everything works, including the clock. There are no oil leaks. The engine is original and has approximately 45000 miles on it. It was removed while the heads were sent to San Jose BMW to be converted to run on unleaded gas, and another motor was in the bike. . Upgrades include: Brown side stand, Brown ride off center stand, fork brace, hard cases in good condition with no damage (no keys), Pro;lite brake rotors, Jim Cray mufflers (THE JIM CRAYS ARE INCLUDED WITH BUY NOW ONLY. OTHERWISE THE STOCK MUFFLERS WILL BE REINSTALLED. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO RUST). It also has the original tool kit and a new windshield. I would rate the body an 8 out of 10, only because of the few minor paint chips. It is 26 years old and has very minor chips in paint on fairing and one of the side covers (the cover fell of while riding) Local dealer recommended not to repaint because it is not that bad. The overall paint is excellent. It is still glossy and as new. This bike gets compliment whenever I ride it, which is not ofter; just enough to keep it fresh. Then it is refilled with gas wiped down and back in the garage. You will not be dissappointed with this bike. If it does not meet your expectation when you come to pick it up I will give you a full refund of your deposit. If you have questions or need additional pictures please ask. Bike is being offered for sale locally. On Jun-17-11 at 13:35:34 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added three close up pictures of the paint chips. They are small not through the primer. tank near filler. left edge of fairing top of fairing near the mirror left side of tank
