Thank you and good luck. ***** UP FOR AUCTION IS A NICE LOOKING ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING SURVIVOR IN THIS 1958 FORD FAIRLANE 500 RETRACTABLE SKYLINER WITH 104K ORIGINAL MILES. RUNS/DRIVES WELL AND TOP WORKS GREAT! VERY SHARP CRUISER THAT WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST. The car comes from Washington state. It was stored within the Harold Lemay Museum, and was owned by an older gentleman that kept a lot of the original documentation, including: top operating manual, owner's manual, body assembly diagram, various brochures, and even numerous copies of the Retractable/skyliner newsletter that was printed some years ago. I got it a few months ago and have been doing some tlc here and there. Motor needed some work, so I had my mechanic tune it, install new rods and valves all around and rebuild the top end basically. Now she fires right up and purrs like a kitten. Basically it looks like the vehicle has never been restored, other than having the interior seat covers and maybe door panels replaced some years ago. Top wasn't working well so I went through it and now it goes up and down great! Interior is in GOOD condition with general wear here and there. Seats and door panels look to be excellent without marks or tears. Carpet older but still very presentable. Good dash. General oxydation and wear on painted metal surfaces on the inside. Only detraction is the sunvisors that need to be redone. Overall a fairly presentable driver quality interior! Under the hood lies a stock and unmolested 352ci V8 motor with manual 3 speed transmission on the column that shifts well. Motor has had the top end rebuilt with NEW rods, NEW valves and new intake gasket to name a few things. Starts easily and sounds great. Good stock power overall and brakes stop WELL. Nice and solid throughout. Steering is nice and nimble. Very fun to drive and you can hop in and drive it right now without major worries, just tune it the way you want and you're ready to go. I've driven it mostly around town here and there, never on any long trips. Underneath, the car has just some minor surface rust from regular use throughout the years, but appears very nice and dry with SOLID frame and good floors/trunk without any major issues that I was able to spot. Being an old car, it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shines up FAIRLY with good luster for a halfway presentable driver (NOT a showcar of course, and it appears a little nicer in the pictures so please keep that in mind). Some general small scratches/chips/dents/scrapes etc. as you would expect from driving. Chrome should be replaced, particularly bumpers. Various areas where patina is and paint is flaking off on the interior side panels and dash. Some bubbling by very edge of lower front fenders and rear lower quarters, just barely showing. Not working: radio, clock, couple of smaller gauges and perhaps a light or two may need replacing here and there as needed. That's about all I was able to notice from my inspection. I am sure there are other tiny details i've forgotten so please keep that in mind, this is NOT a brand new car obviously. OVERALL IT'S A VERY COOL CRUISER THAT COULD EASILY BE A DAILY DRIVER WITH VERY MINOR TLC. HOP IN AND DRIVE IT WITH THE TOP DOWN AND ENJOY THE WEATHER AND RESTORE IT DOWN THE LINE. VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF A MOSTLY ORIGINAL AND UNRESTORED NUMBERS MATCHING 1958 FORD FAIRLANE 500 RETRACTABLE SKYLINER WITH NICE COLOR COMBO AND KILLER LOOKS.
