Vehicle Detail
Hello, I am selling my mother’s 1965 Buick Skylark Convertible. This is one of those rare little old lady stories that is …well….True! My mother actually purchased this car in 1965 as her first NEW car after landing a job as a Elementary school teacher in VA in 1965. She has kept a lot of the receipts including the original purchase sales contract for the car! After reading it though, she got burned on the trade in she had, but that’s another story ha! This car took my older sister to College at UVA and it was my first car I got to drive when I received my license. There are many fond memories of this car! :) The car has never been titled in any other person’s name except her. It seems to have around 80,000 original miles on it according to the records but it actually unofficially be 8k on the odometer (see pics) as it was not driven very much at all, and I think it could have possibly been the 10th of a mile that was titled by accident lol. The VA title says 67k something. The car has barely been used over the past 10 years, except to drive around the block a few times every now and then and the tags are kept current. I just drove it recently. Just 5 years ago my mother spent another 3k on it. Thousands of dollars have been spent on this car throughout its life. It has the original 355 wildcat V8 engine with a 4 barrel carb. It even has extra original spinner hubcaps. It has a Turbine 300 automatic transmission. This car usually receives about 3-7 offers to buy it every single summer, but my mother has always been very attached to the car, so she has never entertained the offers. My mother is now 81 years old, and has come to the realization that she will never really drive the car again, and has asked me to sell this car for her. She hopes the new owner will truly appreciate what this car is and treat it with respect. I am sure whoever buys this will meet her as it goes bye bye. This car has been restored several times over the years, and is in desperate need of some new complete restoration top to bottom. The bumpers front and rear will need to be re-cromed and redone. The top goes up and down sometimes and if I remember back years ago, it probably needs some tranny oil in the top motor. It has had the usual east coast rust that has been repaired before, but overall its in pretty decent shape for a project restoration. There is a little rust in the trunk, but again nothing terrible. One of the floorboards needs to be replaced but it is drivable. I’m sure there are other things it needs ..(tune-up carb rebuilt etc) and there but a good foundation it is. I have done extensive research on this car on Nada, Kbb, Hemmings etc. and have a good idea of the value. It is not a show car by any means and needs a lot of work to restore, but it is also not a junkyard special either. I want a person to get a good deal, but I am by no means a fool either regarding this rare car. If you have any questions feel free to ask. The car will be sold “as-is” with “no warranty implied or expressed”. The buyer will have to arrange pickup if they are out of state at their own expense or pick up personally locally. I will also be offering this car on Craigslist locally, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction if it sells. Feel free to call me on my cell at 303-827-5656 until 11PM EST in VA any time. The car is located in Alexandria, VA. ++++I will be out of town from June 23rd to June 28th, but will be glad to return emails and calls and set up appointment to see the car from Tuesday the 28th on locally...+++++ Thank you for 7 emails so far in less than 12 hours :) Thanks for looking and Ill try to answer any questions you haveJ Richard
