Vehicle Detail
Auctioning off my 1969 Jeep CJ-5 located in Dexter, NY. I have owned this jeep since 1995 when I was in college, I love it but must sell it because I'm in the military and moving to Hawaii. Body is all metal, no replacement fenders or aftermarket crap. Transmission is a three speed I believe (maybe four but I only recall three and reverse). I have the number four in my head, but I am 99% sure I'm counting the reverse as a fourth gear. This Jeep is geared really low, I never took it over 55mph on a highway, but I climbed over everything in the AZ deserts without ever getting stuck in it. This vehicle has a “rebuilt” title in my name from Arizona. The VIN on the title says “AZXXXXX”. There are numbers where the X's are, however my wife has the title with her and the vehicle in NY and since it's not a real VIN just an assigned number it really doesn't matter. The engine is a 1979 Buick V6, the transmission and transfer case work fine without any issues. The tires are so new that the rubber stubs haven't even fallen off them. I was restoring it myself, I never got to the seats, so those are crappy and will need to be reupholstered. The body has no rust; this is because it was an AZ vehicle for as long as I am aware it has existed (me and previous owner). When I left AZ in 1999, I kept it garaged, and it is still in a garage until you come to get it. It has never been on the road in snow or salt. Spedometer cable is broken so you wont get a speed or current odometer reading. Battery is likely dead from sitting all winter. I pulled the fuel tank and ran it off a 5 gallon tank from the back of the vehicle. It will run, but backfires because the carb needs work. I do not recommend driving it home, it is in a project state, but a good project that will not require little work and will be easily loaded on a trailer for camping trips or when you come pick it up. Windshield wipers (and motor) are removed and not present, the front windows were cracked and replaced with plexiglass by me. My intention was too keep it for my whole life and just use it for camping trips and off-roading so the restoration thus far is not a professional job, but I did a great paint job on it. It has not had a heater, or needed one since I bought it. I'm stationed in WI so wife took these pics for me and didn't clean the dust off the hood. The paint is unscratched and is called “International Orange”. I put on an electric holly fuel pump and removed the engine driven fuel pump. There is no top or doors included, just the roll bar overhead. This is a super fun vehicle and I hope no one buys it as a parts vehicle. It needs to be out tearing the place up! Buy it and you will not be disappointed!
