When I bought this car, it had been stored inside for 18 years, and had 39,000 miles. The speedometer was rebuilt and now shows 2,045 miles, which makes for 41,000 miles actual. The paint is base coat/clear coat, is 6 years old and in fine condition. Most of the chrome has been rechromed, and all chrome and stainless trim is in great condition. Headliner, upholstery, and carpets are all new and in excellent condition. Floors and trunk are rock solid. All glass is in excellent condition. Everything electrical works fine, except the clock. Radio is an AM "Search" model...the best DeSoto had to offer in 55...and works fine. Tires are new with 2,045 miles on them. Brake system is perfect, upgraded to power front disc brakes, using the Stock Kelsey-Hayes power booster/master cylinder. The engine is a 1957 DeSoto Adventurer 345 cubic inch, 345 HP Hemi. It has the Stock 2x4 intake manifold with Professionaly restored, original matching and correct carburetors. The engine was totally rebuilt using the best components available...Main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, pistons/rings, cam, stainless steel valves, springs,exhaust manifolds, and Pertronix ignition. Dual exhaust system profesionally installed. The Powerflyte automatic transmission was professionally rebuilt to 1956 Chrysler 300 specs, to handle the extra power of the upgraded engine. Starter and generator (6V) professionally rebuilt. This car won 1st place in Class at the 2005 DeSoto National Club Convention, and has been featured on 3 calandars since.
