Vehicle Detail
I'm listing this 1938 Ford pickup for a good friend of mine. He's enjoyed this truck for a couple seasons now and is ready to move on to another project. It started out as a 1938 Ford cab, hood and grill from Oklahoma, minimal rust. It was chopped about 5" and painted in olive green, real military paint that is scratch resistant. Areas were highlighted in red oxide, then sanded through for a faux-tina look and the hood and body line was pinstripped and aged. The bed is from a 40's pickup that was shortened and a custom louvered rear tail gate was added. In the back of the bed is a lockable storage compartment that can be used for storage for long trips or tools, it is pretty good sized. The chassis consists of 2x4 .250 wall box tubing with a model a front cross member, and '40 Ford rear cross member. Front suspension is a Superbell 4" drop axle with reinforced hairpins, '40 Ford spindles and brakes, tube shocks with F1 shock mounts and a Posies spring rounding it out. Steering is controlled by a Mopar steering box with custom pitman arm and Superior 500 steering wheel. The rear end is a Ford 9" with an Auburn posi-trac and 4.11 gears, 2 1/4" drums, all linked to the chassis with a triangulated 4 link and tube shocks. Brakes are controlled by an F1 pedal assembly with a '67 Mustang dual reservoir drum/drum master cylinder and Wilwood residual valves. All hydraulic components in the brake system are brand new front and rear. Wheels are '34 Ford 17" wires with Firestone black wall tires. The drivetrain is a '74 Chevy 350 that was gone through and cleaned on the bottom end with new gaskets and rebuilt Vortec style heads up top. There is a Comp Cams .480 lift cam that gives it a nice healthy rumble with the lake style headers and runs great everywhere. Atop is an Eldelbrock Performer manifold with an Edelbrock 600cfm carb while spark is fired by a Pertronix II Ignitor. Topping of the look of the engine is Oldsmobile style valves covers and a Cal Custom air cleaner with bronze filter. No smoke or oil burning at all. The engine is cooled through a Griffin aluminum radiator and electric fan. Power gets to the rear wheels through a fresh rebulilt T5 transmission with a Hot Rod Works adapter and new clutch The inside of the truck is bare bones aluminum paneling with custom aluminum seats and surplus military WWII seatbelts. The interior can go as is, or you can finish it out for a completed look. Stewart Warner gauges round out the dash board. All the wiring throughout the truck is brand new and done very nicely and cleanly, all visible wiring is covered in asphalt covered loom for an old time look. Lighting is handled by Halogen converted Model A headlights and tail light. The truck drives well, stops well and shifts well. Title is a clear Ohio title and is titled as a 1938 Ford pickup.
