Vehicle Detail
Hello, and thanks for checking out this auction for my 1994 Capri XR2 Roadster. Finished in Ford of Australia's rare Cobalt Blue, and sporting a Black leather etc. interior. I acquired this in January 2004 from an enthusiast in Virginia Beach, VA; I think it was sold new in Virginia - CARFAX might confirm that. I am a big fan of Mid County Mustang & Capri Parts, as Pat and team have advised on service for this XR2. The only mods have been the shiny strut brace between the shock towers, and then the pretty silver twin - cam cylinder head cover. OK, and it sports DOHC 24 Valve decals, Tickford badges, and an Oz flag on the back with the stars of the Southern Cross. "When you've seen the Southern Cross for the first time..." speaks to the joy this Australian roadster can bring out. What is it like to drive? Fun! A bit rowdy, but less so since I replaced the sports exhaust, with a full muffler. Lots of regular service with synthetic oil, etc. Recent work includes basic services. The Michelin tires including the full-size spare are due for replacement This is an original car, and I do not see any evidence of repainting. That said, it has stone chips in the front, minor door dings on the side, and 'hangar rash' on the rear deck lid from bikes in the garage where it has been parked. Seat leather is worn, esp. the driver's seat. Top was new in 2004, but is showing wear as I run with the top down most of the summer. I drove this from Boston to the Berkshires, and down into Manhattan. It is ready to drive anywhere. The "Check Engine Light" sometimes appears, and I've replaced O2 sensors etc, but it is 17 years of age.The Capri draws nice comments wherever it goes, often of 'whut the heck is that! Is that just out?" The Barchetta design study of the 1980s has stood the test of time well. And the Mazda 3 series running gear is easy to maintian, usually just a NAPA store away -- or the Mido 800 number! SHIPPING I am glad to facilitate shipping - but that will be your responsibility. Questions: please call +1-617-962-2498 or email nickcandee@aol.com Thanks for considering this sweet XR2, a rare 1994, one of fewer than 400 built! On Jun-19-11 at 14:41:06 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL DETAIL - responding to an eBayer's excellent questions: A/C needs to be manually switched on -- the cable needs replacement. Sorry, I should add have added that to description. System was recharged a couple of years ago. I run with the top down most of the time, so up here do not think often of using the AC. The XR2 is garaged both at home and at work (a nice benefit) Fortunately the top does not leak as we had a deluge yesterday - the wear is near the bottom of the top behind the side windows where the top flexes the most going up and down. Other items: the right headlamp has begun to stick sometimes going up - a rap on it causes it to pop up. Left fog lamp recessed into the front bumper is broken - I consider then more style than function so have not worried about it. Thanks for asking! If I did not have yet another project I'd keep & refinish it! Thanks for the information about the tires. I will take that into consideration. How is the condition of the A/C? I expect that it needs a recharge. I understand that the top is worn, but does it leak? I intend to have the XR2 serviced before driving home, if I win... Thank you for the information Thanks -- Before a long journey in such hot weather I recommend replacing the current Michelins. From your area code I gather you are in [The South West]. Thanks for your bid, and good luck!
