Hello, I am selling my 1999 BMW r1100rt. This bike has been extremely well maintained with scheduled maintenance at BMW of Pittsburgh and the BMW dealership in Southeastern Ohio. Mileage on this bike is approximately 74k, which is nothing for these boxer engines (don't let the miles fool you, these bikes were made for touring). The previous owner had the bike for 10 years. The bike has never been down, and there is only the normal wear and tear to the paint (small nicks - very few). In October 2010, I had BMW of Pittsburgh perform the major scheduled maintenance for this bike, with is the 12k checkup. I've listed below the BMW manuals listed items that are replaced and tuned during this checkup. The following are some specifics on the bike, along with items changed during 12k maintenance checkup in October 2010: - new alternator belt (during October 2010 maintenance) - abs brakes - power windshield - accessory cigarette adaptor plug - stock tools & pouch - bike cover - heated handle bar grips - touring package with hard top case and saddlebags - new BMW battery (during October 2010 maintenance) - new front and rear tires (during October 2010 maintenance) - new throttle box and all 4 throttle cables replaced (during October 2010 maintenance) - installed quick disconnects on full lines (during October 2010 maintenance - this bike was not manufactured with them) - all new filters, brake fluid flushed, oil changed, antifreeze changed (during October 2010 maintenance) - replaced choke cable (during October 2010 maintenance) - valves calibrated (during October 2010 maintenance) - Throttlemeister bar end cruise control - Corbin front and rear seat, along with one backrest - driving lights - new rubbers for footpegs - new Aeroflow windshield - new Tailblazer brake light - replace front headlight bulb with a high intensity halogen. Details of the 12k maintenance performed per BMW Motorcycles owners manual: BMW Motorcycles Maintenance Schedule BMW Inspection 12,000miles R1100R R1100RT R1100RS R1100GS R850R 1. Change engine oil when engine is warm, renew oil filter cartridge (for short distance driving or outside temperatures below 32 F change every 3 months or 1,800 miles) 2. Change oil in transmission & rear drive when at operating temperature (change after two years if low mileage) 3. Retighten cylinder head nuts 4. Adjust valve clearance 5. Replace spark plugs 6. Replace fuel filter (normally every 24,000 miles, but if fuel is of poor quality, every 12,000 miles) 7. Check & grease battery terminals; check battery acid level & top-up water level 8. Read fualt code memory with BMWMoDiTeC 9. Replace intake air cleaner (in very dirty or dusty conditions, replace the intake air cleaner element more frequently as necessary ) 10. Check clutch clearance, adjust if necessary 11. Adjust Poly-V-Belt [review SI #2747] Replace Poly-V-Belt every 24,000 miles (for maintenance-free Poly-V-Belt, do not adjust. Replace the Poly-V-Belt after 36,000 miles 12. Retighten hose clamps at intake tubes and throttle bodies 13. Check brake pads and discs for wear, replace if necessary * 14. Check front/rear brake fluid levels, top up if necessary * 15. Check brake system with regard to function, leaks, repair as required * 16. Check ABS sensors/pulse wheels for correct gap/contamination 17. Adjust and clean as required * 18. Lubricate side stand, center stand and nipples for clutch cable 19. Check swing arm bearing (no play), adjust if necessary * 20. Check wheel bearings, replace if necessary * 21. Replace brake fluid at least once a year with DOT4 fluid 22. Check torque setting of the rear wheel retaining bolts and front conrol arm 23. Check condition of all fuel and oil cooler hoses & connnections; replace as needed * 24. Grease lower eye of front spring strut and windshield adjuster (R1100RS only) 25. Check free travel of the throttle and cold-start (choke) cables (if equipped); check idle speed & throttle synchronization (adjust CO value on non-CAT models) update one piece throttle cable (if equipped) with low friction cable, replace throttle cable * every 18,000 miles 26. Final inspection with safety/operating check: - Condition of tires and wheels, rims and spokes, adjust air pressure - Lights, horn and turn signals - Indicator and warning lights - Clutch, gear shift and side stand switch functions - Handbrake, footbrake and ABS; steering - Instruments (including optional accessories/radio - Test ride, visual quality check * invoiced as a separate item 27.
