Vehicle Detail
1970 Multishade Green IH Scout 800 A 4x4 with full white steel removable top, 304cid V8 with 4spd manual transmission(super low 1st gear), 2 speed/single stick transfer case, Warn manual locking hubs, and true dual exhaust. Powr-Loc rear differential, geared to pull, huge rear spring packs, 70’s style 15” aluminum wheels(with locking lug nuts & key), low-back bucket front seats, removable back seat, 2" receiver tow hitch, front bumper with built-in tow bar, rear bumper(not on vehicle), swinging spare tire carrier(not OEM) with decent spare, dual 10 gallon fuel tanks with locking gas caps, carpeted bed, Yakima roof rack, detachable face AM/FM/Cass Stereo(not fully hooked up), owner's manual, and several random parts. The tires aren’t great, but they do hold air. Though the Scout appears to be mostly stock, some minor modifications have been made and most should be visible in the pictures. It does appear that the previous owner ran a CB antenna to the passenger-side rear fender. The cable is still there, but the antenna & CB are gone. The front windshield decal says Anything Scout. The rear decal says Billabong. The odometer reads (1)47,858.6 miles. I’m not sure if it “rolled over”, but I seemingly thought it did when I registered it in FL as the title indicates the miles to have been 149,120. That mileage is higher than currently, so best I can figure is DMV keyed a "9" instead of a "6" since I believe I put a little under 2000 miles on it after registering it in FL. I also do know that I have put less than 6,000 miles on this vehicle in the past 12 years! I bought this Scout in California, drove it to & registered it in Florida(what an awesome trip that was!). While in FL, I put some work/fresh parts into it and enjoyed running around town in it(ran strong and the exhaust was better than music to me). I moved to Connecticut, did not register it in CT, the FL registration expired, and just let it sit. It currently has no battery, but I did pop one in it recently and attempted to start it. The starter did work, the motor spun, and it coughed + flamed a bit on gas poured into carburetor, but I did not get it to run. These vehicles are simple, but my mechanical skills are minimal, so I'm figuring somebody with medium skills could get this baby running in an afternoon. Overall, this Scout is in decent shape and the rust is minimal. Most Scouts in this part of the country have more rust than metal, so this one is unique and a keeper! I have over $10,000 invested in this vehicle and would rather not sell it, but my priorities have changed. My loss is some lucky person’s gain of a sweet classic SUV! I have been the owner of this vehicle for the past 12 years and do have clean title in my name from the State of Florida where it was last registered. The title, the doorsill, and the door plate numbers all match. Took about 100 pictures, but seem to be limited to 24. If I missed anything/want other shots or you have questions, let me know! Please ask questions early and do not bid unless you will follow-through with transaction. Vehicle is being sold as-is. Scout is to be picked up in Seymour, CT 06483. Any shipping is up to the buyer. I may be willing to transport this Scout on my trailer in local area for extra fee(Contact me early if interested in that). Otherwise, I do not mind assisting winning bidder/shipper in loading vehicle for transport. This Scout did not have bumpers on it when I bought it & I acquired them in FL. I have only used the tow bar to move the vehicle in my yard and am pretty sure some preparations would need to be made to be able to tow a Scout in that manner. Bidding starts crazy low and the reserve is set FAR below the value of this Scout. I am RELISTING this vehicle since prior auction did not get to my LOW RESERVE. I am leaving notations of answers provided to people in past on this one to assist those seeing it for the first time. Bid Early and Bid High! I do have this vehicle listed in other venues and reserve the right to end this auction if sold via other means. GOOD LUCK BIDDERS!!! On May-29-11 at 16:58:40 PDT, seller added the following information: **Thanks for the early questions!** Here are some answers that may be helpful to others: The tow bar requires a 2" ball. The round thing below the tachometer is The Horn(Prior Owner's Fix as one on wheel does not work). Yes, the Warn Manual Locking Hubs DO spin freely. No, this vehicle does NOT have power steering. I do NOT have the brackets to attach the rear bumper(I was going to make some, but never got to it). Yes, what I have from State of Florida IS a title. It says "Certificate Of Title" on it. On May-30-11 at 09:00:52 PDT, seller added the following information: ***Update*** I was just looking closer at the title from FL and noticed something odd. On it, the miles are stated at 149,120 as of 2/23/2000. Since I did not replace the odometer, the best I can figure is that it was assumed at that point that the odometer had "rolled over" and whomever keyed it hit the "9" instead of the "6" as I believe the mileage actually was 146,120 at that time. I had already driven it across the country by that point and putting 1500 to 2000 miles around town after that makes total sense. I'm not sure what that affects, but wanted to put that out there as I am trying to be as straightforward with this vehicle as possible. Also, some of the "random parts" I had stated include: some of the side emblems, an extra pair of valve covers, an extra carburetor, some nuts & bolts(pretty sure to hold rear seat in place & I only used about half the top bolts to hold it down), the trim pieces that go between the window cranks & door skin, a couple hoses, an oil filter, the case for the radio face, some fuses, a Chilton Repair Manual, a bottle of lead-substitute additive, a pair of leaf springs(nothing wrong with them-just less leaves), and a few other random items. On May-31-11 at 11:21:28 PDT, seller added the following information: The pictures I posted for this auction were taken this past week.On Jun-06-11 at 05:13:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added a BUY IT NOW option. Keep in mind that feature goes away once the Reserve is hit! Good Luck Scout People!
