This auction is for a 1984 Jeep CJ-7. The standard 2.5L, 4 cylinder engine was replaced with a 5.0L (I think), straight 6 cylinder engine before I purchased the vehicle in 2005. The Jeep runs great and is a lot of fun to drive, however is not an open highway vehicle (although I regularly "stretch-her-legs" to keep the engine clean). The transmission is a 4-speed manual Dana C300 and the 4x4 is used regularly (though its challenging to get it in 4x4-High due to a conflict between the gear shift lever and the body). Both the engine and transmission are serviced by a local professional mechanic and are in good condition, as are the front and rear transfer cases. The fuel system is in good conditoin. Fuel filters are replaced annually and only premium Chevron gasoline is used. The fuel tank was replaced in 2009. The fuel gauge is non-operational. The cooling system is in good condition. The radiator and hoses were last serviced in 2009. The power steering and hydraulic brakes (non-power assisted) are operational, though could use some work. Parking brake is non-operational. The frame, springs and struts are in fair condition and indicate only minor surface rust. The rims and tires (Dakota RVT 33x12.50 R5LT) are in very good condition and show little wear. The body is functional but in need of extensive repair to prevent any additional metal loss or replacement. The roll cage and tube bumpers are in good condition. A trailer hitch (female coupler) is installed, though the trailer light bridle is not installed. The electrical system is typical for a Jeep that lives with the top down between April and October. The head lights, brake lights, left and right indicators are operational (right front indicator bulb is out). The hazard switch needs replacing and the high/low beam foot-button works but needs some work. The KC lights are functional (chrome is rusted) but disconnected beneath the dash for the A/C adapter. The tachometer (after market), thermostat, battery gauge and speedometer are operational. The oil pressure gauge is operational but disconnected. There is no radio, though the speakers, power cables and antenna cables are operational. The interior is also typical for a Jeep that lives with the top down between April and October. The seats are +/- 5 years old and are the springs in the driver seat are beginning to show wear. The passenger seat is in good condition. Both seatbelts were replaced in 2005 and are in good condition. There is no rear seat. The top is an aftermarket, soft-top that came with the vehicle when I bought it in 2005. The top is in good condition, though shows typical wear for a 6+ year old soft-top. The doors are "soft" and are in good condition. Overall the Jeep is in great condition for its age, despite the condition of the body (I still get complements on it all the time despite the rust). This is an excellent Jeep for somebody who has the time to do the work necessary to get the body fixed up. If I hadn't had 3 kids in the last 5 years, I'd be doing it myself... The frame is in good to very good condition and has a few isolated areas of minimal, superficial rust which can be easily repaired by way of a wire brush and spot painting with an underbody coating.
