Vehicle Detail

This bike is a former AMA TT race bike. This motorcycle was ridden by Jimmy Odom during his amateur year. You may know his name from the movie, On Any Sunday. This bike was built by Les Edwards, who owned Cycle Imports in California. Les built, tuned, and sponsored bikes that were ridden by well known riders such as Gene Romero, Dave Hansen, and Mark Brelsford. Although most of these riders moved on to bigger and better things in the professional ranks; they got their start on Edwards built bikes. This particular bike won the 1967 Peoria TT amateur race with Jimmy Odom on board. The same year, Jimmy also won the Amateur TT race at Ascot. This bike still has the Ascot TT sticker on the handlebars. We purchased all of the stuff Les Edwards had leftover in an old barn on his property. Below you can see a photo of the bike when it first arrived at our shop. There was not much to it, just a frame. We spent a lot of time sorting all the parts, motors, and bikes we acquired from the Edwards family to put this bike back to its 1967 Peoria form. This is the same bike, pictured in the 1967 Peoria TT below. The photo is captured at the exact moment of Jimmy touching down from the jump. This is a true piece of AMA racing history. This bike will be a major project. As of now it is “mocked up”. We installed wheels, and correct period Pirelli tires to get it rolling. We then bolted the motor in the frame and put a top end on it. The motor has stuck pistons, and there are no pushrods, or push rod tubes. The motor has Routts cylinders, and a Tom Sifton cylinder head. This bike will need hardware and a complete motor rebuild, as well as some Mikuni carburetors. It would be wise to tear it down to every nut and bolt and start over. Although the gas tank has very nice patina, it will need a lot of work to be able to be functional again. This is a very cool motorcycle that deserves to be freshened up and displayed in a new home. There are no extra parts selling with this bike, and it DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE. The numbers on the frame have previously been removed. We will help facilitate transport for this bike worldwide. If it ships inside the USA, we suggest allied van lines. They can usually go anywhere in the lower 48 for $700 or less. International shipment is more difficult, but it can be done.
