This Woody is gorgeous! I drove it through downtown Asheville on Friday night and had amazing reactions to it! Everyone who sees this beauty, LOVES IT! Restored to a very high standard with goodies you couldn't get in 49: power leather seats, a cd-changer, modern air conditioning, cool power windows that are controlled with vintage-looking hand-cranks & more. The previous owner had three Woodies and was beginning to replace them with other types of cars. Before it was shipped to me, it had sat for a several months, without being driven. After I received it, I took it for a test drive and found the steering to be sluggish and heavy. I also noticed a couple of other things, so I had it thoroughly checked out and proceeded to have any little bugs fixed. It also had a good tune-up. In the last week, the mechanics have: fitted a brand new battery, changed all the fluids, replaced the serpentine belt, removed and replaced scratched exhaust tips, put in a new steering rack, put in a new power steering pump, added a battery tender with a regular ac plug and replaced the driver-side vent-window rubber. She now runs and drives like a champ! I thought the headlights were a little dim, so I had this diagnosed and ordered halogen lights. These came in today and will be installed before the Woody is delivered to the buyer. The only other blemish that I've found is that the driver's door won't lock. It seems to be something with the mechanism and may need a new lock. I will attempt to have this fixed before delivery as well. (Just depends on how quickly it sells and I have a feeling it won't last very long.) After taking the pictures that you'll see below, I took this car for a 40 minute drive. It was superb! It hits a sweet spot between 45 and 65, where the 454 is singing and the car is floating. It corners, handles and brakes much better than a completely vintage Woody would, which gives you a lot of confidence to open it up and enjoy running at a good speed. The front shocks are modern, whereas the rears are a more vintage feel. It gives you the feeling of driving a true vintage car, with modern performance. Cosmetically, this Woody is amazing; the paint is smooth and deep, the wood is highly polished, the leather seats are without fault, the carpet is excellent, glass is clear, chrome has no pitting and on and on and on. I have never driven a car that gets the looks of admiration that this Woody gets. All people of all ages smile and give me a thumbs-up as I drive by.
