Up for auction is my classic 1983 Mercedes 300D with its original black paint and black leather interior. I am reluctant to sell it. It has been my daily driver for many years, including more recently 3-hour round trips to Baltimore 3 times a week to teach college. I am the 2nd owner of this beauty. It was originally purchased in California by the 1st owner; and I purchased it in Florida 6 years ago. This Mercedes has been well maintained over the years and has relatively new tires, a brand new battery and a $2500 overhaul/tune-up in December 2010. The power sunroof and windows all work except for one rear window that sticks on occasion. The transmission, steering, brakes all work properly. To the best of my knowledge, the car has never been in an accident. There is a minor dent in the driver’s side door but it has not broken the paint layer and could be pushed out. Like all older classic cars, it has its problems. The AC worked last summer but seems to have developed a leak and will not cool presently. It also has an engine oil leak that needs attending to. I suspect it is involved with replacement of oil gaskets. I would normally do these repairs but I am a single father of a 3 ½ year old and do not have the ability right now to attend to these issues. Therefore, I have lowered my reserve price to accommodate the new owner to make these repairs. Please ask any questions. This car is for pick up only. The leather on the driver and passenger doors should be restretched. They do have some wrinkles in them and have always been that way during my ownership. However there are no rips or tears. There is a small tear of about 3 inches in the driver's seat which could be repaired. The backseat leather is in fine condition. The rope baskets in the back of the front seats could be re-tightened since they are hanging a bit loose now.
