Vehicle Detail
This is a 1968 Volkswagen Single Cab Truck. I have been told these are called Transporters. I am not a Volkswagen collector, so I don't know much about these trucks. I will try to post a good description and good pictures. If you have questions, please email. I will respond as soon as possible. The Truck is a 1968. The Title says 1968. I have a Clear Title for the Truck. The engine is a Single Port and the numbers on the base of the Generator Tower are "H5390103". According to a friend, who does know something about vintage Volkswagens, this number confirms that that the engine was built in late 1967 and is for a Bus or Truck. The Trans-axel is a 4 Speed, 3 Rib IRS. The few Volkswagen guys I have talked to say this engine and Transmission are probably original to the truck. The truck starts easily and runs very well. It has a New Starter, New Clutch, New Throttle Cable, New Tail Pipes and New Tires. The New Tires were on it when I got it and the Left Front Tire does not have a White Wall, like the other three. The truck has 4 Hub Caps that I think are original. The truck has rust in the normal places that Volkswagen Buses get rust. It is pretty complete and most of the rusted pieces can probably be repaired and used. The truck can be driven, almost, as is. The Brakes are weak and may not work at all. I am told this is common for older Volkswagens. If the brakes were fixed, you could drive this anywhere. It runs well enough to be used as a daily driver and probably gets better gas mileage than the car you're driving now! The Bed Sides fold down to make the truck a Flat Bed. The Cargo Bed is solid and can be used to carry a load. The Rear Bed Side, or Tail Gate has holes that allow the Tail Lights to shine through, even when driving the truck as a Flat Bed. There are covers on each side of the Body that conceal a Cargo Area. This Cargo area is solid, but does have some rust on the Bulkheads. The Cargo Area Covers both appear to have been fabricated as replacements for the original covers. I don't think they are the original covers. The Cab Doors open and close well. The Cab has some rust in it, but is solid enough for daily driving. The Interior is typical Volkswagen Sparce, but the seat looks good and isn't torn to pieces. There is no radio. There is no Air Conditioning or Power Windows or Cruise Control. The Ignition Switch has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. There is a Tool Box or Spare Tire Well, under the Seats. It appears to be solid. These Volkswagen Single Cab trucks are really getting to be rare and hard to find. This truck would be great for advertisement, outside a business! This would make an awesome Daily Driver. It starts every Time and there don't appear to be any issues with the Engine or Trans-axel. With a little brake work, you could drive this every day. I tried to post a good description and pictures. If you have any questions, please email. Since the Brakes are not road worthy, you will need to Trailer this home. I can assist with delivery, within a few hundred miles of Akron, Ohio, for a fee. This Truck is being Listed with no reserve. It will sell to the highest bidder.
