Vehicle Detail

1962 Honda CBM 72 Hawk Type 2 Engine This bike is listed in many other places I have sold 4 of my bikes and now have 2 to go. Please don’t waste my time if you do not intend to buy. 1962 CBM"HAWK". Not a "SUPER HAWK"(305cc) the "HAWK" is a 250. This bike probably should be in a museum as it is rare The engine and transmission and starter were completely rebuilt by Ed Moore in Texas This bike is unique in 2 respects: It is a CBM and has a TYPE 2 Engine..... a "type 2" motor has dual carbs, but a 360 degree crank and one set of points. The points covers alone are hard to find, and actually say "Type 2" Also this is a Japanese Issue bike (it was not intended for the US Market)...the speedometer and odometer are in Kilometers So somewhere back there someone bought it in Japan and had it shipped over Here is a link to a webpage on the CBM: http://www.honda305.com/cb77_800/cb77-804.htm It is hard to find much info on these things... The frame # is CBM 7262236** There is a 1962 sticker on the wiring loom (The first Hawks were built in 1961. I bought this from a guy in Oregon. He and a former owner had done a fair job on restoring the bike I quickly found the correct early model seat for it though. I also bought some very good fenders for it After a while I yanked out the engine and sent it to Ed Moore in Texas Ed is one of THE top experts on 250/305 engines around Ed also rebuilt my CA 77 engine and a head for my CL after I screwed it up. Months turned into years and Ed didn’t get around to this one Then a few summers ago, he said, " come on out and we will work on it together"So I did I went to his place for a week and watched him work. I asked every stupid question I could think of. Ed really is a great mechanic and probably knows as much or more than anyone else about these 60's Hondas. He also sold me a nos muffler for this bike to match the original. And we also got most of the bike together at his place The bike also has new brakes and a new battery I guess there is a chance the frame has original paint (but I cant tell).... It has a new powder coated gas tank and I just powder coated the headlight. I rebuilt the front forks and re-chromed and powder-coated some stuff I also zinc plated a lot of smaller parts on it recently This has the early smaller tail-light The bike came with the correct plastic emblems... Engine and frame # match Clear New Mexico title One picture shows the clutch cable hanging out...I have rerouted that to the correct position The last photo shows the other bike I am selling and the ones that sold. Also I will be getting rid of extra parts 1965 Yamaha Big Bear Scrambler (250) sold1966 Honda CL 77 Scrambler (305) sold1966 Yamaha Catalina (250) Sold1967 Honda CA77 Dream (305) Sold 1965 Honda CB 450 BLACK BOMBERItem number:250823948373 Feel free to call me or email me if you have any questions about this bike or others that will be for sale505 842 8117EdHaddaway@aol.com Ed H
