Up for auction is a very rare low mileage (13,983 miles) 1983 Suzuki GS450A (450cc) AUTOMATIC. It is identical to a regular 5 speed but is like an automatic car with a "low 1" and "drive" gear. I bought this bike as a daily commuter for three reasons: 1.) It is shaft driven, which means no oil splatter from a chain and no need to remove/adjust links over time not to mention a smoother ride. 2.) It is fully automatic but a real 450cc motorcycle. It is amazing for stop and go traffic or just cruising. 3.) It gets about double the mileage of my car (and is a lot more fun to drive) This bike has always been garage kept since I have had it and I have never ridden it in the rain. This bike runs, shifts, rides and handles really nice. If you can ride a bicycle then you can ride this motorcycle. However, this is not a scooter!!!! I am told this motorcycle will run 100mph+ but I cannot honestly say that I know that for a fact because that is well beyond my limit. I have driven it at 70 mph on the highway and it does that with no problem and plenty of throttle left. I am selling because I just got another bike as an early father's day gift and I do not need two. I promise you that you will be impressed with the power this bike has the first time you take off on it. In fact if you are on dirt or gravel you will spin the back tire for a good distance if you are not careful. If you stand beside this motorcycle you cannot tell it is an automatic. It does not have a clutch but it does have a lever on the left side that looks like a clutch lever except it is actually an additional rear brake lever. Just like a standard motorcycle this bike also has a normal front brake lever on the right side and a foot rear brake on the right side. This bike has two transmission positions. 1. Low and 2. Drive. You can use low for starting out on steep hills or if you just want to go really slow or want a lot of power for some reason. You can put this bike in the drive position and start out from a full stop and go up to full speed and back to full stop without shifting at all. GREAT for in-town stop-and-go traffic! This bike was recently serviced as follows... It has a clean air filter, new oil filter, rear differential oil change, new spark plugs and clean carburetors. A laser alignment on the front end of this bike was also performed and it runs true and smooth down the road as it should. All of the gauges seem to work properly as they should including lights and the fuel gauge. This bike is shaft driven which at the time was unusual because most bikes this size were chain drive. The shaft drive keeps the bike cleaner and makes for a much smoother ride. Both hand leavers have been replaced with new ones as well as new high-end mirrors (replacing the round cheapies you typically see). The seat is in great condition with no cracks or tears. The tires are in good shape with a lot of miles still remaining. This bike starts right up on the first try every time and then idles as it should. PLEASE NOTE….The only thing that you might want to do to this bike is the next time you change the oil you may or may not want to change the oil pan gasket which is easy to do. When this bike sits it will have a small bit of a spot of oil coming from the oil pan gasket. The gasket was ordered for it ($10.00) so I could change it when I changed the oil but they sent the one for a GS450L and they are not the same. This is a very small seepage. If this bike is ran on a regular basis it may go away completely. After a day or two of sitting it may have a spot the size of a quarter under it. It is certainly not a problem but I want to let everyone know before they consider bidding. Please keep in mind this is a nice 1983 and not a new 2011. Like with most any bike this age there are various areas of surface rust and scratches. The bike looks nice but I just want to remind everyone it is not new. Hopefully you can tell by my E-Bay feedback that I do not make claims or representations that are not 100% accurate. I have always made it a point to understate the condition of any item I have sold so that when the winning bidder gets the item from us then they are always happy. I would not misrepresent any bike or item I have on E-bay to anyone. As I have said this bike has a fresh service and is ready to go…….all it needs is someone to ride it! I have two bikes and still ride this one so the mileage stated is approximate. This bike has an up to date valid Virginia State Inspection sticker on it. Bike is being sold as-is.
