None other than the famed Walter Rohrl has declared this automobile to be the penultimate evolution of the 911 Porsche. It's approximately 3150 pounds and 450 naturally aspirated horsepower combined with nearly 50 years of evolving the 911 suspension, make this one of the most confidence inspiring and surgically accurate handling supercars of all time. Essentially, this is a Porsche Cup racing car for the street. We just had to have an example of this quintessential high-performance 911. After a nationwide search, we found the perfect car. Of course, it had to be Porsche classic competition white with the bold red trim and wheels and the gorgeous carbon fiber rear wing that is actually put in the position in the airstream where can actually work – even at low speeds. Save the grays and blues for the posers and fashion mongers. These colors will be out of style before the end of the year – not so for clean and classic white. Next, we wanted to accomplish two goals: one was to honor Porsche’s design for this vehicle – keep it light and simple – a track car for the street. We did not want one with motors that raise the front end, or silly stopwatches on the dash (that no one ever uses), or navigation boxes. All great stuff for a Panamera – but simply distractions in a car like this when you want to be listening to the amazing sound of that engine as the tachometer needle soars past 8000 RPM. We did want to have an example whose interior reflected the performance aspect of the car and tied in with the carbon fiber rear wing. Opening the driver’s door reveals the carbon fiber center console and alcantara Porsche logo console storage cover. We added a genuine Porsche factory carbon fiber doorsill covers with the GT 3 RS logo in place of the black plastic pieces. We were also happy to see the original owner had an iPod/Universal interface and Bluetooth phone adapter added by the dealership – so we can keep both hands on the wheel and stay legal on the cell phone here in California. It was this dealer add-on that shows up on October 13, 2010 in the Carfax and noted as "electrical system checked". The end result is a car that looks absolutely stunning, clean and classical both inside and out with just the right options that do not bloat the car's weight or sticker price. And that was our second goal: keep the price affordable. Anyone that knows Porsche knows that their real profit margins are in the incredibly expensive options lists.
