Vehicle Detail
1964 Studebaker Gran Turisimo Hawk. This is a rare car being one of only one of 1,767 made in 1964. One of the last cars to be produced by the famous Studebaker automobile company, the last year of the GT Hawks and reputedly the best. The GT is considered to be a true collector car and is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. I have owned the vehicle since 2002. Before I brought it into Connecticut it was a California car and had two prior owners whose names I have. I have always kept it garaged and driven it only in the warmer months. The odometer shows 45,249 but I believe the true mileage to be 145,249. I have driven the car for about 5,000 of those miles in the 9 years that I have owned it. That has included some long trips on which the vehicle has performed beautifully. The car is Bordeaux red, the original color, and was repainted by the last owner. The paintwork looks good from 10 feet but has a few imperfections. This is not a concourse car but is clean and runs excellently. To the best of my knowledge, everything other than the paint is original, including the upholstery and the factory installed AM radio which still works The engine and transmission are in good working order with a clean and correct engine compartment. The tires are in great shape, having about 6,000 miles on them. The hubcaps and wide white walls are all good. The stainless and chrome including the grill are in good condition. . All badges are correct. It has the Chevron emblems on both front doors and the grill and also has the Hawk emblems on both sides of the pillar. There is nothing is missing. The interior is very nice. The car is smoke-free. All the wood on the dash and trim is in good condition. The seats, dash, steering wheel and all carpets and headliner are in great condition. The glass is good with all windows working properly. The fuel gauge does not work. I do not use the car in the winter and it appears that the gas gauge is stuck on full (it may be a wiring problem). I have a spare fuel gauge and have installed a new sending unit in the gas tank. All the other gauges function properly including the clock. There are lap belts for the front seats. The trunk compartment is nice and clean with the correct hounds tooth trunk floor mat. The spare tire is as new. The jack is original. Under the car everything is nice and solid. There is no rust or anything that needs fixing I have had the car serviced regularly and have all the service records. I have installed new brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and hoses just to mention a few items. Additions include a hitch ( I towed a small sailboat) and a wolf whistle (for fun!). The vehicle has been inspected by the State of Connecticut. It is so reliable that you could drive it to California. It is not a concourse car but she is clean and an eye catcher. I have the original owner’s manual, the service manual, the factory order and the original sales brochure.
