Vehicle Detail

2002 CHEVROLET CAMARO CONVERTIBLE: Needs engine repair / rebuild / replacement. Great opportunity for a nice camaro convertible for someone who wants to rebuild or replace the stock GM 3.8 v6. No other problems until recent engine problem, on a well maintained car. The car does run now, but smokes and runs very rough. See condition below. Would not recommend driving more then a few miles. Listed as no reserve, starting price of $1199, not much more then just the aftermarket SS hood cost alone. Any questions at all please email me: sellingdavid@aol.com Thanks! Features: Convertible/power top, 4 speed automatic, power windows/locks/truck, cruise control, tilt wheel, GM factory monsoon 300 watt am/fm/cd system, steering wheel radio controls, remote trunk release, keyless entry, factory security system, cloth interior, convertible top boots, built in radar/laser detection system, projector headlamps, aftermarket fiberglass ss style ram air hood, custom style tail-lamps, k & n ram air system, new sport rims (16"), space saver spare, air conditioning, rear defroster, SS style bowtie grill, GM factory SS style dual exhaust outlets. History: Purchased car in 2003 from a GM dealer as a demo, 12,000 miles. Owned car until approximately 1 year ago when sold to brother in law. He drove as a daily driver until last week when the engine problem developed. I then purchased car back from brother in law. At 50,000 miles car had transmission serviced, and radiator cleaned and flushed. At 100,000 miles car had new struts, stocks, brakes & 4 rotors, new plugs and wires, transmission serviced, radiator flushed, and any worn suspension parts replaced. Decided to sell as is rather then have engine repaired. Condition: The car ran excellent up until last week. Was being driven when it suddenly started to run rough and smoke. Was towed to a garage and upon inspection ($200 bill) garage stated the engine needs a rebuild or replacement, and probably had at least a cracked head. Decided not to spend the $1500 for the rebuild and towed home. Other then this engine problem, there are no other mechanical problems. Trans has been serviced regular and shifts fine, newer brakes & 4 rotors, suspension parts are fine. Two tires are new (less then 1000 miles) but other two tires are worn and need replacement. Rims newer. No cracked or damaged glass. The paint is the original GM 'sunset orange' from 2002. It has an average amount of nicks and scratches for a 9 year old car. Would look great with a new paint job. No accidents, or damage. Air bags fine, never deployed. Known Problems: As described, the engine work needed. Small area above passenger side rear wheel wheel has surface rust starting (see photo), 2 worn tires, drivers seat has a very small wear hole in material (see photo), Rear window defroster plug has come off of window, needs to be reattached with a repair kit ($10). No other known problems. Pick up locally or transportation at buyers expense. On May-15-11 at 11:46:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Per question: It also has power mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, tranction assist 2nd Gear start swiitch. On May-20-11 at 06:05:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Question: Have had a few questions about the current engine. The computer firing module is fine, and all related parts such as alternator, oil pump, etc etc..... The problem was diagnosed in the heads or block. If someone did not wish to tear down and rebuild the original engine, used junk yard engines usually start around $500, and when I did consider replaceing the engine I did fine a remanf warranted engine for $1295 at: http://www.roadmasterchevyengines.com/chevy_engine_news/blog.php?BlogID=1797 Anyway that's all I can really say about the engine. I hope this helps those who posed the questions.
