Vehicle Detail

1972 Dodge Challenger. Originally a 318 car. Green with cloth seats. ac, power steering, power brakes. A lot has changed since then. First the bad. The paint job on this car is not good. it is rough to run your hand over it, it has runs in it and other problems. the car would need to be taken back down to bare metal and painted right. It also needs new quarter panels, work on the doors, and rockers. Now the good. Everything mechanical on this car has been rebuilt or replaced. Engine: '71 440 machined .030, 10:1 pistons, file to fit rings, .484 mopar purple cam and lifters, edlebrock performer intake, 750 carb, fuel pump, and roller chain. TCI rattler harmonic balancer. high volume oil pump. flow cooler water pump. aluminum radiator. Be Cool electric fan Exhaust: new Hooker competition headers. Tube Technologies Inc duel exhaust with walker dynomax mufflers Ignition: MSD pro billet distributor, MSD 6A ignition box. MSD wires. 90 amp alternator. Transmission: rebuilt 727 with TCI parts. including TCI street fighter valve body. TCI breakaway torque convertor. TCI aluminum deep pan. Turbo Action shifter. Rear end: 8 3/4" with 3.55 and 3.23 gears, both open gears/ not posi. competition engineering slide a link traction bars, 7/8" anti sway bar. 11"x3" drum brakes off a chrysler station wagon Suspension: edlebrock shocks on front and back. front end rebuilt with polygraphite bushings from PST and new ball joints. 1 1/4" anti sway bar on front. shock tower supports replaced with mandrel bent tube from XT motorsports. rear end has new Mopar Performance heavy duty leaf springs. Mopar performance 1" torsion bars. Brakes: manual pedal assembly installed with new master cylinder and the correct proportioning valve. Rotors and calipers replaced on the front. 11 x 3 drums in the back. new parking brake cables. the brakes work great. Steering: manual steering gear from a ralley challenger installed. along with the steering column from that car. steering is tight. Wheels: 15" x 7" ralley wheels from a 70 charger. 2 extra sets of center caps. tires are 23560R15 firestone. Body: From Year One: both new fenders, both inner fenders, front and back bumpers, new bumper brackets on front, new front and back valances. trunk lid. new front valance lights. new windshield. new fuel tank and sending unit. new front frame rails and sub frame connectors from Safety Cap. car was undercoated inside and out with POR15. the hood and fenders need to be aligned better. Interior: From Year One: all 3 seat covers, new carpet, (faded a little in some spots). new headliner, Dash was replaced from a car that did not have air conditioning and was also black. pad was bought at a swapmeet. it is cracked now. the heater core assembly was replaced from a non ac car. heater core also new. the heater control cables/ducts were also replaced, because the old vacuum pots were removed. Auto Meter gauge set. JVC stereo with pioneer speakers. The entire wiring harness was replaced, except the rear light harness. replaced was the engine harness, the dash harness, the front light harness, the transmission harness. Spare parts: I have the trim for the back window, also the trim needed to put a vinyl top on it. extra drivers side door. and glass not in it. also an extra back glass. another set of ralley wheel center caps that look more like a big nut than a cone. and i already mentioned that there is 2 rear gear sets. the floor boards are solid, a pan from was used on the drivers side. the passenger side was repaired with 16 gauge steel and a metal brake when the frame rials were replaced. the trunk floor is solid and mostly original except for a 8" x 10" patch on the drivers side. battery is in the trunk. needs a bracket to hold it in place. i'm sure there is a lot of things i forgot to mention. This car runs and drives beautifully. It can sit in traffic all day without lifting it into neutral. The engine does not try to fight the brakes, it does not load up, or overheat. when the road is clear and you hit the gas, oh man. this car runs like the wind blows. i never had it to the track , but its pretty quick. it can easily have traction problems . i really wanted to get a posi, but never got to it. My reserve is well below half of what i've put into this car. If it doesn't sell. i want to get the posi, get the quarters replaced, get it painted right. and vintage air someday. Then it would be a really nice street cruiser. Thanks for looking
