Up for auction is a 2004 Mazda Tribute ES V6 4WD with 135,550 miles, which has been my wife Karen's primary daily vehicle since 2004. If you have done any online searching for a Mazda Tribute, either directly on eBay Motors or through other online/offline classified ads, you already know that the ES V6 4WD is the top end model and that there are fewer of them available for sale, due to higher resale demand and the fact that less were manufactured than other more common models like the LX model with 2WD and either the 4 cylinder engine or V6 engine. This Mazda Tribute ES V6 4WD has almost all available options for the 2004 model year (see Edmunds True Market Value Report below for a list of the options). One thing that Karen and I have liked a lot about this car is the color scheme. Many of the Tribute's you will see on the road or for sale are two-tone and thus do not have a single exterior color, however, this vehicle has a single Dark Titanium Metallic (dark grey) exterior color. The interior color is Dark Flint Leather (dark grey) which complements the exterior color quite well. Condition Report The car is in good condition inside and out, very well maintained and looks great for being 7 years of age. It's a 1-Owner vehicle because it's been a fantastic car that we have relied upon heavily for the last 7 years, otherwise we would have sold it much earlier. All maintenance records are available since day one and will be transferred to the winning bidder. The car recently had an oil change and is all set until 138,500 miles. The engine is strong, starting up effortlessly every time and the transmission shifts smoothly. The part-time 4WD system is also working perfectly when engaged. The heater heats the car up quickly in the winter and the A/C blows cold in the summer. The EPA estimates the mileage at 20 city/25 highway (we got about 22 mpg in mixed local and highway driving) which worked well for us. On the exterior, the Dark Titanium Metallic paint is in good condition, with only normal wear for a 7 year old car, which means there are a few small exterior scratches/chips/dings due to everyday driving. Below, I am fully disclosing everything I observed visually. When I looked at the outside of the car from top to bottom, there is one small ding on the driver's door near the handle, a few small scratches on the rear driver's side door and two barely noticeable dings on the passenger's side door. There are also a few larger scratches around the rear bumper/deck lid area. I took some pictures of the exterior of the car and even one that shows you the driver's door ding, but it's very hard to see in the picture which tells you just how small and inconsequential they are. Again, they are all minor condition issues and nothing that takes away from the overall look and feel of the car, just what you can expect normal everyday driving. However, I am telling you so that you will see I am not hiding anything. The vehicle also has a valid NJ inspection sticker good through January 2012. On the interior, the Dark Flint Leather front seats are still in good shape with no rips or tears in the leather. The rear seats and trunk area are likewise in very good condition. All interior buttons and switches are functioning perfectly, however, the 6 Disc CD changer no longer works and if that's important to you, installing a new radio and CD player head unit is recommended. We mainly used AM/FM radio and also had an external XM Radio and iPod with FM modulator to play through the speakers, so it wasn't an issue for us and we decided not to replace it given that CDs are becoming less useful every year with all the digital music options. Around the border of the radio and tape player, you will notice some of the gray color on the plastic has worn off in one section (see photo). The car has a brand new battery purchased in April 2011 and new Kumho Solus KR21 235/70-16 tires that were installed over this past winter. The tires carry an awesome 85,000 mile tread warranty, so you won't have to worry about replacing either the battery or tires anytime soon. The tires have excellent remaining tread life and ride/handle very well. They are highly recommended by TireRack.com customers if you want to check them out. So by now you might be wondering, why are we selling this SUV if it’s such a solid and well running vehicle? Well, that's a great question and we would definitely want to know this if we were interested in this buying a used car like you are. The answer is quite simple and straightforward. Karen uses this as her primary daily vehicle and drives about 20,000 miles per year, so she wants a newer car that she can consistently take on long trips without worry. Most of the mileage on this car is highway miles, which is probably why it's currently running so well. This would be a great car for someone that drives low to moderate mileage per year, wants a solid car at an affordable price that they can get a few more good years out of. Mazda Tribute's and Ford Escape's with the V6 engine have been known to run very well to at least 200,000 miles and have an excellent and reliable 24V DOHC V6 engine. Is this SUV a good deal?
