*** THIS IS THE FINAL RE-LISTING BEFORE I DECIDE TO SHIP THE CAR TO INTERESTED PARTIES OVERSEAS! *** *** NO RESERVE *** *** Highest Bidder Wins *** Unique opportunity to own a limited production 1995 BMW 840CI (e31) that turns heads where ever it goes. This is a very rare example that has become surprisingly affordable to own compared to the sticker price of $100,000 when new. The car is finished in what I call Jet Black over Ivory/ Camel Leather Interior. Those of you who are BMW enthusiasts should recognize the color “specific” names easily. This beautiful example has been a project car of mine that has been cared for by myself and the previous owner. A look back at the past history records indicate that the car has had at one point in time a rebuilt/rebuildable title. More specifically, the car was found to have been involved in an accident that was reported back in 2003. Nevertheless, before purchasing the car, I had it professionally inspected and the area of the damages occurred towards the front end corner on the passenger side. The resulting accident called for the replacement of the passenger side fender, front bumper, misc. lights and hood. As you are probably aware, with such limited production numbers, the replacement cost of body parts and labor alone on the 8-series can be expensive not to mention impossible to find. We came to the conclusion that due to the age of the car back in 2003, plus the initial high cost of repairs, may have resulted in the insurance company opting to consider the car a loss for the owner. The past records show the car was later picked up that year by a new owner and professionally repaired and put back into service as records indicated. Hence the rebuilt title. And finally, back in 2009, there was a reported issue from the previous owner that resulted in minor damages to the rear corner trim piece- under the left taillight (See Picture). This incident was a direct result of an unlatched tailgate on a pickup truck reversing into the car in a parking space. The extent of damage is clear in the pictures and is relatively inexpensive to fix but, the previous owner and I opted to never have the repair done as it was minor. Since then, this 8-series has withstood the test of time. Getting behind the wheel and driving the e31, you will instantly notice how much build quality and over engineering has gone into these true collectables. As such, I have driven this beautiful car on the town and on the open highways at speeds safely in excess of triple-digits without any issues or hesitations whatsoever. I have previously owned and maintained several BMW’s in the past and currently drive a 5 and 7 series. This 8 series was not intended to be my sole daily driver, but was to be a unique project car that symbolized my taste for quality and engineering that you just don’t find in cars made today. Plus you have to admit, the design is still timeless and will look that way even 2 decades from now! Unfortunately, my career has me relocating from my beach front home in Florida too the Metro Atlanta area. Likewise, I am forced to abandon a perfect 3 car garage home and settle for now into a lesser one-car townhome, but priorities in life have too come first. Mechanically, the 8-series V8 runs very strong and has been a very reliable car to own. As such, the car is not to be mistaken for a concourse show car. If you ever had the opportunity to research and look into these magnificent cars, you will find that they have very common issues and minor things that pop-up from time to time. Most recently, the ABS/Traction light comes on and off at will, but has not affected the braking system. A search in the BMW forums has led most owners to discover that the ABS wheel sensors/ contact points more than likely need to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. I also recently noticed a slight rattling noise on cold start ups that looks like one of the exhaust heat shield may be loose and touching the exhaust pipe towards the rear muffler. When the engine is off, you can shake one of the rear mufflers and you can hear the rattle. I also checked the A/C yesterday and it looks like it will need a slight freon re-charge, but the system still blows and functions as it should. And finally, I have noticed a sharp clicking sound when going over speed bumps or making a sharp turn. Before moving up to Atlanta, I had the noise checked by my local mechanic and he told me that one of the front tie-rod or sway bar bushings was going bad and it would be good idea to replace both sides at the same time. Nevertheless, I basically told him we would address the issue next month but again, I had to relocate this month for work. The overall cosmetics of the car are very good. The paint is still shiny, but could benefit from a professional buff and wax. There are a few imperfections in the paint such as scratches, touch-ups, etc common for a car this old. The interior is also in good shape, but there are a few small blemishes on the console area but nothing to major. The carpets are good shape but could use a good professional shampoo and cleaning. The leather is also in good condition and has been treated with conditioners on a routine basis. I had an estimate to re-condition the entire car for $250 by a professional. This included a full interior / exterior detail, engine cleaning and re-conditioning the leather interior like they do to all the used cars at the dealerships. The trunk looks like it has never been used, the carpet, spare wheel etc. are all in great condition. All of the windows are operational and even "auto-close at speeds of over 100 mph." All the lights, including the headlamps function and work as they should. The car is also specially equipped with European Lamps, in other words - the car has highbeam flashers incorporated in the bumper, so the actual headlamps do not need to be in the "up" position to use. As such, the car is also equipped with the euro rear fog lamps (both sides), as well as the factory equipped dashboard switch. I also recently purchased a new OEM BMW lower front bumper "spoiler lip" that is missing as you can see from the pictures of the car ($415). Since I relocated and moved, I have not installed it yet, but it will be included with the car for the new owner to have and install. Again, the car drives and runs strong. It just needs a few mechanical/cosmetic things to make it perfect. I recently drove the car up from Florida and it still puts a smile on my face and turns heads on the road. I unfortunately don’t have the time or resources anymore to work on it as my career has taken a different path. The car has had all the major services done and is up too date. A list of services performed just in the past 2 month – New spark plugs, belts, filter, radiator flush, synthetic oil change, replaced both side valve cover gaskets (common on v8’s), Powerstop performance brakes and pads, brake sensors, O2 sensors, misc hoses etc. etc. It will probably need a new wheel alignement afterwards, but I was holding off until I had fixed the previously stated bushing issue. Nevertheless, it still starts up as normal and is fully ready to drive anywhere. To add more beauty and uniqueness to the car, I purchased a set of Real “Authentic” AC Schnitzer Type III wheels ($3,800) in a staggered fitment, which really adds to the cars phenomenal looks and handling. I also replaced all (4) Brakes just 2 months ago with PowerStop Performance Cross Drilled /Slotted Rotors and Powerstop Ceramic Pads ($1100). The car not only stops smoother, but looks amazing through the AC Schnitzer Wheels. And lastly, before moving up to Atlanta I had the windows tinted 35% to round out the look. Again, this 8-series runs very strong and has been a very reliable car to own as it has the common V8 motor and not the complicated V12 engine. As such, please do not mistaken the car for a concourse ready show stopping car. It has alot of potential for the next owner to make it one of a kind project. This car has been the most amazing and truly unique vehicle that I have owned, but its now time for someone else to enjoy this true classic.
