Motorcycle enthusiasts around the world are familiar with the name George Brough. From 1919 to 1940 he manufactured the "Rolls Royce of motorcycles" at Brough Superior works in Nottingham, England. These fine motorcycles were owned by the likes of Lawrence of Arabia and George Bernard Shaw. Along with the manufacturing of motorcycles, George Brough produced approximately 85 motorcars named Brough Superior at his Haydn road works. Built between 1935 to 1939 he used Hudson engines with Hudson Chassis. The first car was the 4 litre straight eight cylinder engine made from 1935 to 1936. Performance was remarkable for the time with a top speed of 90 mph. In 1936 Hudson stopped supplying the 8 cylinder engine, Brough then used a straight 6 cylinder 3.5 litre engine. Due to the engine change in 1936 only 18 eight cylinder cars are now accounted for according to the Brough Superior owners club. Of these only 8 are roadworthy. Here is an opportunity to acquire one of these sought after motorcars. This fine example was completely restored in 2001 and is still in exceptional condition. Paintwork is excellent, except for one small ding on the left rear quarter and light scratches on the running boards due to entering and leaving the vehicle, please see pictures. Chromework is excellent along with the interior and wood. Mechanically the car is sound and is an exilharating drive. This very desirable motorcar will only appreciate in value as time goes by and will be a sound investment.
