Vehicle Detail
They're only original once. Take cash off the sidelines and invest in hard assets. Collector cars are increasing in value and few are desireable as orginal, survivor British sports cars from the 1960s. At the top of that list is the Jaguar E-Type in any of its variants, but the Open Two Seater (OTS) most of all. See this link: http://www.productsifter.com/Driving/ClassicCars/Jaguar-E-type-review.aspx You can't drive gold or silver. On offer is a uniquely original 1969 Jaguar E-Type OTS Series II E-Type (XKE) roadster I've owned and enjoyed for over 16 years. It is in original, unrestored condition yet beautiful from all angles. This car is fast, 100% roadworthy and dependable enough for a cross country jaunt. MATCHING NUMBERS SAME OWNER 16 YEARS NO RUST NO BONDO NO STORIES This is a 100% complete, road-ready car that includes a range of correct, period-authentic accessories and upgrades including: Tri-power SU carburetors and manifold (Original twin Stromberg fitment included) Convertible top cover Passenger side rearview mirror Luggage rack Armco front bumper guard (included, not fitted) The car has 58K miles, including the 5000 I've put on since 1995. It was a recent show winner at San Diego's October 2010 British Car Day. This car has zero rust and has never had any. Stay well away from any rusty E-Type. The SU Tri-power upgrade from an earlier 3.8L car truly wakes up the power in this 4.2L application while preserving Jaguar authenticity. A late model Delco alternator has been fitted. Endless torque and acceleration. If you've ever sought a truly great, driveable, unmolested Jaguar E-Type free of stories and excuses, this is your car. It is fast, astonishingly smooth riding, yet handles crisply and with authority. This is a car that doesn't need pampering. It is ready to enjoy immediately and for many years to come. You will enjoy the ownership experience more than with any other car you've owned. It is a classic through and through, instantly recognized as such by everyone. Anyone who loves cars should own one before they die. They are that great. I believe this car has been repainted once long before my ownership and the paint shines as new and, as an old lacquer paint job will do, shows some cracking. Similarly, the original Everflex top has a slight tear just above the drivers side window, yet is otherwise free of defects. The plastic rear window is clear and pliable. The interior is excellent condition with only the slightest of patina. There are tiny nicks here and there as you might expect of a 42 year old car. I'm downsizing what was once a collection of British Cars and this is the last to go. To restore a car to this level of appearance and driveability is a $100K+ undertaking and you are left with a car that is remanufactured and with a history that has been lost and destroyed. In my view, investing in unrestored originals is the only way to go. December 2010 Book Values for 1969 E-Type OTS: Book Low Avg High NADA $ 26100 $43500 $52700 Kelley $28400 $48900 $77800 Pricing is at "average" levels for a well above-average motorcar. Just try to find another one like it. I've found this spot-on commentary: There are two rules to keep in mind when shopping for an E-Type. The cheapest E-Types (those in the worst condition) are overpriced. The more expensive E-Types (those that are in the best condition) are underpriced. Actually, these rules apply to the purchase of any classic car, but are especially true when shopping for a Jaguar E-Type, as they are complicated beasts. The basis for the statement is a marketing reality: people tend to shop with a heavy emphasis on price. This natural and unfortunate, fact of economic life tends to boost the prices of those cars at the bottom of the heap and to deflate those at the top. Put another way: it is always cheaper to buy a car in good condition than to buy one in poor condition and then bring it up to the higher standard. A LOT cheaper. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will assist in the process. Check my feedback. I honestly and conservatively represent all items I've sold on eBay including about two dozen collector cars sold worldwide. I value my integrity more than I do making a sale. Call me at 760-533-0150 with questions, but kindly save lowball offers for rusty, beat-up, unloved cars from careless owners. Those are easy to find. The car and I are located in San Diego County, California and you can see it by appointment. The car is priced right. You won't find a better one for less and neither will I. Thanks for looking.
