Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my extremely original, low mileage Calypso Coral 1970 Mustang Mach 1. This Mach 1 has spent its entire life in the high desert of sunny California and has no rust! I purchased the car 4 years ago with 61,000+ original miles and had no intentions of ever selling. BUT the opportunity came to purchase a 1970 Boss 302 so, sadly, the Mach 1 must go. Born on July 28, 1969 in Dearborn, Michigan and shipped to the Los Angeles this Mach 1 has spent most of its life in or around Bakersfield, California. With an average rainfall of 7”, no snow and no coastal exposure the car has zero rust! The body and paint are very nice driver and local car show quality. It appears that at some point early in the cars life the driver’s quarter panel was replaced, other than that all the sheet metal appears to be original. This car really stands out and attracts crowds whenever we take it out! The running gear in the Mach 1 is 100% stock! Powered by a 351-4v Cleveland which is backed by an FMX select-shift cruise-O-matic trans and 3.00 posi-traction rear-end the car is a joy to drive in town or out on the highway. The motor runs great, does not burn or drip any oil and is very reliable. I have taken the car several times on 300 mile round trips from Bakersfield to the coast with no problems at all! The exhaust system is 2 ¼” stainless with turbo mufflers and factory Mach 1 tips – The car sounds great! The interior in the car is all new and very nice. All the weather-stripping and seals have also been replaced. The car was equipped from the factory with air conditioning but I have never hooked it up. When I purchased the car I was informed by the previous owner the air worked but he had removed the belt as the compressor began to get a little noisy after he had it recharged. The AM radio has been replaced with an AM/FM Cass... I recently replaced the original door speakers but did not enlarge any of the holes or change out the original speaker grills. The Mach 1 has the factory rim blow wheel which is in great shape and still works when you press on just the right spot! As mentioned above, the Mach 1 was built on July 28, 1969 and according to the Marti report equipped as follows: 1) Calypso Coral Paint – Ford #1730-A 2) Mach 1 – Sportsroof 3) 351-4v 4) Black clarion knit/Corinthian vinyl bucket seats 5) 3.00 standard axle ratio 6) FMX Select-shift cruise-o-matic 7) Black hood stripe 8) Evaporative emissions 9) Convenience group 10) F70x14 belted white sidewall tires 11) Power front disc brakes 12) Power steering 13) Air conditioning 14) AM Radio 15) Tinted glass-complete The Mach 1 also has rear window slats, a console, and trunk and chin spoilers. These items do not show on the Marti-report but according to research done by an acquaintance and Ford nut, the car was equipped with these items from the factory. The car currently has 14” magnums but did come originally with the Magnum style wheel covers. I have all four original wheels and covers. All are in very nice shape. If you are looking for an extremely solid, no surprises Calypso Coral Mustang Mach 1 this may be the car for you. As mentioned earlier, I purchased this car and maintained/restored over the past 4 years with every intention of keeping and enjoying it for years to come. All the work I have done or have had done has been with that in mind and has been done nicely, no shortcuts! Don’t miss the opportunity to own this very nice 1970 Mustang Mach 1!
