Vehicle Detail

This is one of those cars that we sometimes hear about -- the ones driven by little old ladies, garaged most of the time and driven gently the rest of the time. It's a 2005 Nissan Altima with 55,000 miles on it; I got it for my father in 2006 so he wouldn't spend another season driving a different car without air conditioning. The car was like new then, with 13,000 miles on it, and behaves just as well now as it did then. This car is a step up from the entry-level Altima, which means it sold for $19,550 new instead of $17,000. It has air conditioning, power mirrors, remote keyless entry with remote trunk lock, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, an AM-FM stereo with CD player and steering-wheel controls, a six-speaker audio system, seatback pockets and a lock for the split rear seat. It's also got driver- and passenger-side airbags. Personally, I think it's a major plus to have fairly new Goodyears all the way around. They've got half the meat on them at least, and with a 740 treadwear rating, all I can do is say "wow" about these tires. I think they're a bit more than $800 a set where we got them, America's Tire Co. The all-around disc brakes are in perfect condition; smooth stopping, no pulsating of the pedal (which would indicate imperfect rotors) and no squeaking (which would indicate imperfect brake pads). It was never "hot-rodded" or abused; just driven around Fresno to the store and bank and to weekly senior-club gatherings, and was garaged the rest of the time. The discerning eye will notice some flaws in the body, however; my father did manage to have a few whoops-a-daisies that resulted in a bit of a rumpled right-rear door and a slight impression at the center-front of the hood & bumper. You may see a scratch in the hood and door on the right side, also, and a knick in the right taillight lens, and the trunk mat doesn't look superb. But for one thing, it's mechanically in great shape, and has had all the oil changes necessary, so it makes a great commuter car or around-town car, regardless of cosmetics. And for another thing, I figure somebody out there has a cousin with a shop who could iron out these imperfections for next to nothing. There was also a back-bumper bender that occurred but was 100% fixed at a body shop, so that will probably show up on the history report. Other than that, the car's pretty much in fantastic shape and has a ton of life left to it. The AC works fine, too (which is personally a big deal to me). Bidding is starting at less than half the Blue Book price for a "good" condition model, so as to give more people a chance to participate. More pics coming, especially of the interior. Upon sale, you get the car and bill of sale immediately. Title's held at a small credit union in Fresno. They'll work with us immediately to send the title the same day. It's kept in the office. (Yes, the place is that small. Two employees, and they answer the phone when you call. If only every bank was that way.) The transfer is occurring under power of attorney, and copies of notarized forms proving I have it will be provided, too. I'm handling the sale because my father is simply not well enough to sign. With the power of attorney, there is nothing mysterious or complicated about transferring the title. I sign, and it gets transferred. Unfortunately, the dealer masquerading as a "buyer" who previously bid on this car so he could flip it for $9,000 didn't understand that. Because I didn't drop to $6,000 because he found a chip in a taillight lens that wasn't in the original listing, he decided to leave some libelious feedback. So the car is available to smarter buyers! Here are some specifications: * 2.5 S 4-door sedan * Fuel tank capacity: 20 gallons * EPA mileage estimates: 24 city, 31 highway * Base engine size: 2.5 liters * Base engine type: I-4 * Horsepower: 175 * Horsepower rpm: 6,000 * Torque: 180 ft. lbs. * Torque rpm: 4,000 * Maximum towing capacity: 1,000 lbs. * Drive type: front-wheel * Turning radius: 18.7" On Apr-25-11 at 20:57:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Monday, April 25: Several photos were added, showing the speedometer, the interior, a better view of the right-rear door, and the right tail-light lens, which has some chips. Looking at the right fender, you'll see the scratch mentioned in the listing above. There's a smaller mark on the right passenger door, too, maybe 10 inches wide, though not as noticeable as the fender mark. The trunk mat is kinda chewed up -- it's as if a dog ate it and something greasy got onto it. The carpet has zero holes. If you want like-new carpet, you can steam-clean it; it's pretty close to looking great. Behind the driver's seat, though, I think a truck part was in contact with the carpet, so that's one spot to steam-clean. The floor behind the passenger seat is still covered with a factory liner (as it would seem), so it's probably quite new underneath. So, while it looks quite nice inside, the car's not in absolutely pristine shape cosmetically, but it's all there mechanically. Brakes, engine, AC, muffler, transmission, suspension. Nothing wrong in any of those departments (or any mechanical department I didn't think to name). And the car's got pretty low mileage. So. Happy bidding in the remaining stretch!
