Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this very clean top to bottom 1958 MGA. This vehicle is being re-listed. Bidding was very close to the reserve. I have added a By it now. I bought this car from it's original owner. Thoughts were to enjoy it this summer, but for many reasons I need to sell it soon. The following is a list of the cars new parts, and restoration history. Please view all the photos and ask any questions you may have. The engine is the original 1500. It has had the timing chain replaced with new gaskets by the previous owner. It runs at normal temperature with good oil pressure. Electric system has all new cloth bound wiring harness, voltage regulator, rear tail lights, coil, points plugs, wires, cap, condenser, and most of the dash switches. New switches include ignition, lights, dash dimmer, high beam switch, turn signal, and wiper. The cooling system has had the radiator boiled out, tested and repaired. New hoses, clamps, thermostat, and heater control valve, and drain cock installed. Fuel system consist of a new fuel tank, hanging straps, hardware, sending unit, all fuel lines, SU rebuild kits, and new air filters. Hydraulics ( brake and clutch) include all new brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and hoses Clutch is in good condition. Brakes have new shoes on the front, and all the drums were cut. Suspension, and rear springs have newer bushings. Driveshaft has new universal joints. Transmission and rear end were said to be in good working order with all fluids changed. Interior consist of new Moss leather black with white piping seats and trim kit. Wood cockpit trim is new along with mounting hardware. Seat bottoms have new wood bottoms, and foam. Please see photo. Steering wheel, and center badge are new Moss replacement parts. Carpeting is an all new complete black loop bound type. The trunk is carpeted as well. The former owner had used trunk liner paint on it. Tires are bias ply tires that were on it. Wheels have been sandblasted, and painted silver. New Moss hubcaps finish them out. I have a good top frame for the car as well as a set of side curtains. The body was reworked and had the inner and outer rockers installed. The A and B pillars were also replaced by the previous owner. The car is painted with a base coat House of Kolor base black paint. It was then sprayed with several coats of clear coat, so it can be buffed more. The fenders are nice quality fiberglass replacements. A new stainless hardware mounting kit was used for all the fender bolts and washers. Body mounting bolts, and gaskets are all new Exhaust is a new falcon stainless kit with a stainless heat shield mounted to new floorboards.I also have a new set of convex mirrors for the car Chrome bumpers, over riders, mounting hardware grille and assorted trim pieces are new. This is a very nice MGA with a lot of time and money invested in it. I am setting a reasonable price on it to hope it sells quickly. As you can see from the photos a lot has gone into this car. Unfortunately financial responsibilities force this sale. The wipers, horn, heater, tach, speedometer, fuel sending unit, temperature and oil pressure gauge all work. The charging system not charging completely, and turn signals need a new flash unit. I will try to have the generator checked time permitting. Voltage regulator is new. I have not been able to give the car a good road test. I have only driven the car around the drive way. It is being sold in as is condition which is a very solid, and clean almost completely restored MGA. There is no implied warranty with the car. Again, please ask any questions you may have, and check my feedback. Thank you for viewing this MGA On Apr-14-11 at 05:27:22 PDT, seller added the following information: On Apr-14-11 at 08:11:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a note. The air tube for the Heater is on Back order from Moss and due to be shipped in mid May. I will send it along to the winning bidder.By the way Moss is having a sale on tops. On Apr-15-11 at 08:01:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a chance to take the car down the road and take it through the gears today. The car operated well. I changed the gear shift knob to a more comfortable and correct looking aftermarket knob. I also forgot to mention that the car has a new water pump. I noticed a little texture in the paint only in the trunk and hood after it sat in the sun for a while. They were the only two parts that were not stripped down to bare metal when the car was painted. They were straight, and in paint when I got them. I tried to capture it in photos but it does not show up.
