1973 Volkswagen Thing This car has too much good to list, so if you would like clarification, or have questions, please let me know! This car has been in my family since 1984, when my dad bought it for my sister to drive to high school. It sat covered for about 20 years until I dug it up and restored it a few years ago. As you can see from the pictures, this is one clean thing. The paint is super shiny, and only has a few minor scratches. The paint was done by a professional shop, and cost about $3K. they painted the interior and under the hood as well. (no new paint in engine compartment) The interior seats were all re done, as well as all of the rubber trim pieces. There are a few knobs on the dash that I did not replace. the front fenders were replaced with NOS from the thing shop. ($1200.00) I replaced many other parts, all from the thing shop. It has the gas heater under the hood. I have never tried to run it, but I believe it would work. The bad news...The car will start and run, but it has 2 cylinders that have no pressure. I decided to see if I can sell it AS IS. I have reduced the reserve price drastically to account for this. This car has NO TOP! and NO SIDE CURTAINS. It had a factory hard top, But it is gone.
